Dale's Take on it

Being a big fan of the ST300. The Surge was & is just what I was looking for. The OHO blades & such are much more convenient than the form factor of the ST300. It's a very heavy MT. For those who have never seen one. It's basically a Wave on steroids. I've been carrying the Surge for a couple weeks now. I am very impressed with the Carbide cutters. The OHO blades work flawlessly as does the OHO scissors. All blades & tools lock in place. If your clumsy like I am this is a God send... I hate when they fold back on a finger. The thing I notice about the larger MT's. Their advantage is also their curse. If you fancy smaller tools. This won't be one you will like. You aren't gonna drop this in your pocket and head out. But for those who like a larger MT. This would be one of the top contenders.

Crap! I posted this in the wrong place. Mods would you care to move this to the 'Reviews' venue?

Sawman I can totally understand. The Rebar you so love is an excellent tool. I carry one nearly everyday in my front pocket.

But it's not the same, the Wave has the old plier & cutters and no Awl.

The Surge is also one of my favorite designs. However, many of them suffer from rattling.

From the integrated lanyard ring.

I think that got fixed some time ago.

I think the Surge looks like a great tool. It's not for me, though. Like the ST300, it's just too big for my needs. Heck, I can barely justify carrying a Wave.

Very cool that you're enjoying it, though, and I hope it gives you a long life of hard and faithful service. :salute:

I dont have the new Surge but I sure love mine.  I actually carried my Wave today and wow I sure did feel the difference between the two.  I don't mind the weight because the tool is damn near perfect.  I would like to see the Wave updated with Rebar plier head and it would be neat if LM made a small blade exchanger for it.
