Do you wish more SAKs had fun graphics on the scales?
on: November 14, 2013, 03:31:03 PM
I've always kind of wanted a SAK with a fun factory graphic on the scale, for example: Angler, Fisherman, Helmsman, Skipper, Camper, Boy Scouts, etc.

But I've never felt strongly enough about any of those models to actually buy one.

I'm ashamed to admit that I'm thinking of getting a Classic with something fancy on the scales, even though the premium for that is about 100%. I've always considered myself kind of a practical guy, but now that I have 30+ SAKs, I may as well stop deceiving myself. That is NOT a practical way to spend money.  :-[

If you've got good pix of these models, please share them!

I love the scales that have all the different designs on them!  I for one wouldn't mind seeing more of them.

Just 'cause I can't afford them all, doesn't mean I don't like them!

Printed graphics: not really, except some really special ones.

Metal inlay graphics: yes!

I guess I'm sort of a humbug.  :-\

I'm much more interested in interesting scale materials than scale graphics.

I love the graphic designs on many of my SAK's. Here is a link to a few I have posted on my blog. There are so many more though.

One of my favorites; :D

The static ones are really cool.
http://sakfan.blogspot.com/2010/12/victorinox-classic-red-and-blue-static.html

As I've said a few times already, my first real SAK was one of the special Wenger Commanders, Snife series Wave. They had quite a few nice ones in that and the other Snife series.

Vic mostly concentrates on cool designs for the Classics and we see lots of cool Classics every year, but not so many in 91mm format, very rarely in fact. :-\  The Classic collectors are happy though I guess. :P

I'd love to see some of the Classic designs available in bigger formats too.

I really want one on the Climber similar to the Camper's graphic.

I'm real fond of the Victorinox Scenic tourist knives. Would love to see a set of them for U.S. national parks, such as Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, etc.

+1.  The problem with the printed ones is that they aren't at all durable.

I like a lot of the new classic scales, but like Nate I'd prefer something a bit more hard wearing and practical, as I'm not sure how long those scale graphics would last on a key ring.
