Translucent scales, any more colors?
on: November 28, 2013, 02:28:39 PM
Thanks to the 2013 Christmas Pool I now have all the translucent colors in the 91mm range. At least all the colors that I know of. Thank you Grathr for the (dark) Sapphire Huntsman :tu:

Orange (very uncommon), Ruby, Reddish Onyx, Onyx, SilverTech, Light Sapphire, Dark Sapphire, Emerald.

Does anyone know if Victorinox made translucent 91mm scales in any other color? Or maybe different shades of ruby/emerald? I know different colors exist in 58mm (pink/yellow/purple/...), and 84mm ( my Cadet Rose Edition was not invited to this 91mm party :D). Also, I am missing the SoftGrip Spartan, which I think counts as Ruby ;)

If you had some Silvertech scales and smoked 40 cigarettes per day near them, you'd end up with a limited edition brownish-yellow SAK... and cancer! Two birds with one stone eh.

Thanks guys! :tu:

Nope. At least, I've never seen them. Would be nice though.

No need for extra cancer, no thanks ;)

I wonder what would happen if you exposed those SilverTech scales to sunlight for, say, a decade?

Orange... Ahhh!!! :gimme: My favorite translucent color.
These are all the tranlucent colors, since they made a 91mm orange I don't know why they wouldn't at least at one time or another made a 91 in each color.

New quest in life, Finding a 91mm in Orange.
If they made Orange they might as well of made Yellow.
...second quest, find yellow.

Nice pic!
Is that second one the same shade as (dark) Sapphire? Looks a bit more like purple (Amethyst)?
And you're missing SilverTech :D

Never seen yellow/Citrine (91mm).

No it's purple, Amethyst. Translucent SAKs are iridescent, in certain pics/lighting they'll look a little different...
I have both shades of blue, and even then within the two blues they vary so much.
Ruby stays pretty consistent.

I have Silver Techs, 3 in fact. Need one in 91mm, saw a Climber at Target and stood staring at it longer than I'd like to admit.
I don't consider silver tech translucent...
Opaque... maybe is the word

I thought SilverTech scales were actually translucent and painted on the inside, but I guess you could consider them opaque or maybe solid? Oh well :)

In the Netherlands too. In fact, I don't think any of the SAKs in the picture were bought in NL :)

Those look quite awesome. I only have the red translucent. I'd love to get my collection up and running.

I love that Orange! I would like to put the translucent orange scales on a black ice spartan. If not the orange, then the silver tech or the lighter blue one.

Very nice collection.  :tu:

Thanks burnside!
Translucent orange on a black ice SAK would be awesome. But those scales are so hard to find... in fact I have never seen them except for the ones on my CyberTool.

Victorinox shared my picture on Facebook, pretty cool :P
