Camo Charge TTI still available?
on: May 20, 2008, 02:03:12 AM
Good morning all.  First post.  Thanks for a really useful site.

I lost my Surge recently  and am looking for a replacement.  Found the Charge TTI, and then found this site looking for a review.  This is the review I found, http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,1117.0.html and it shows a Camo version with black implements.  However this review is over a year old, and I can't see this version on the LM site.  Is it still available new, or am I wasting my time?

TIA,
Will

When Tim Leatherman first started trying to sell his multitools, Cabelas was one of the only retailers that actually bought them from him.  As a thank you, Cabelas has always gotten exclusive versions that no one else has.

Welcome to the forum- glad we could help, and sorry to hear about your Surge.

Hi Guys, wow, what a quick lot of replies, fastest I have ever seen on a forum, well done (can't even post as the replies keep coming in, haha).  Thanks for the link, I'm in Australia, so will have to see what the shipping costs are etc.

Yeah, really peeved that I lost the Surge, it was brilliant, albeit a bit heavy.  But it has rescued us from a number of situations, including getting us into the house at night when we were locked out!  Plus I used inside computers all the time, haha.

Thanks for the welcome too.

Yes, definitely addictive.  I only had the one, but I immediately modified the leather pouch.  It had 2 elastic pieces either side to allow for expansion.  I stitched the closed at the bottom and used one side for a single AAA cell maglite, and the other for a camo fisher spacepen.

Now I'll have to mod the new pouch, dammit...  ;)

That's one of the reasons why I joined this forum.. a quick reply... and everybody is friendly. I tried to post a question once in another forum and my request has been unanswered for days.

If Cabelas won`t ship to Oz, don`t get disheartened as members here often help eachother out.  While I can`t say with any certainty, I`m sure someone here would be happy to help by receiving it and forwarding it on to you.

Def teh store is huge!!!!!!!!!! They built a 32 acre pond to test ride the boats. Plus they have most LMs there. However as you know you cannot allways be positive what they have in at the time. However I am sure with the past relationship Tim and  Cabelas have they would not let the shelves remain empty too long.

You are allways invited anyway I would even come get ya off the CAT it docks just 15 miles away.

Welcome to the forum! Yeah, I have a Cabelas TTi and an XTi. I really really like the TTi though. It is just beautiful! My next tool is definitely going to be a camo Blast. If anyone has a pic of one, please post!

Thanks for all your replies.  I decided to go with a plain Charge TTI as I carry it at work, and thought that the camo look might not go down so well.  Here in Australia the plain TTI's are nearly $300AUD (about $280US), so I ended up buying one on eBay.  Came with the extra 42 piece bit kit, and got the whole lot for $122US, delivered within 96 hours of order, and that's to the other side of the world.  To say I am happy would be an understatement.
