Ebay!

Aside from there I know a few members have found some gems at pawn shops and flea markets.  Or post in the Tools Wanted section...maybe someone here has what you're looking for.

We are working on something at the moment, but as it's all up in the air at the moment, I wasn't planning on saying anything.

Let me find out what's happening for sure before I drop any bombs....

I have found older model multitools at a couple of non franchise tool and gun stores in my area that do not sell over the Internet.  Their prices are on the high side and they don't lower the prices after the tools have been discontinued so people (non collectors) choose to buy newer models at big box discount stores instead.

Defender, I am all anxious now. what is the bomb!

I just bought a SC2 off smart knives but if it is true they don't sell stuff I will start looking elsewere.  I noticed all teh transactions from the weekend came through on my card today except the juice sc2. I will watch over the week and if It isn't charged or their is no email response I will look for another.
thanks for the ideas guys.

eBay is probably #1 for discontinued tools. Other than the earliest PSTs I have yet to see a Leatherman model or variation of a model that wasn't listed over the course of a month of so. Smartknives does have an eBay account and does list a lot of discontinued tools but I have noticed that a lot of the time they don't have anything listed and then will have dozens of tools for a week and then nothing again.

Look around at your local, independent, Outdoor retailers. I have had some decent luck at the smaller stores that don't turn over a lot of inventory and generally have the ability to buy from the customer or accept trades. In this same vein TJ Max sometimes stocks older tools but I don't know about their prices.

Pawn Shops and Flea Markets are another option but I have found this varies by geographic location. Some areas have a high multi turnover and some don't, expect to spend an afternoon or two hitting several stores to see if any even have multis for sale or is they just throw them up on eBay.

Soliciting ads here and at other forums is a good idea too. I got a lot of hits on Candlepowerforums when I put up a WTB listing for older multis. Bladeforums might be a good place to try also.

Good luck!

I agree, eBay is the best place to buy discontinued tools.. But, like Spoon said you can find them at many retail stores. ( i.e Marshalls, West Marine, etc)

For the moment, there's little to tell, so I'll have to keep it quiet at the moment.  If you have an interest in discontinued tools, I suggest you contact eLeatherman.com or another banner advertiser.  Failing that, eBay is probably your best bet.
