I saw this one on fleabay. Really neat one piece multitool with an attribute I always find interesting ... a really cool name, "The-Teddy". I don't know if the name is hyphenated or it is just a raised portion of the tool. Maybe Jsews will drop by and educate us.

That is an interesting tool. Wonder what the story behind the name is? Cool find Yadda

Curious.
It's an alligator wrench cross hammer thing.
It really is a screwhammer.

Despite it's cuddly-sounding name, The Teddy is really a quite sturdily built tool. The design was patented in 1919.
I imagine it would have been quite the handy multitool to have around the farm back in the day. A big hammer face for pounding the crap out of stuff, a "screwdriver" at the end of a stout handle that was probably used more often than not as a pry bar, and an alligator wrench that would be just the ticket for tractor and wagon bolts that had the points rounded off them.
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Happy holidays Bob!
Great patent document.
Any idea where the name came from?

Merry Christmas to you as well Lyndon!
Nope, no idea where that unusual name came from. I've done some additional digging - found out that the tool was manufactured by the Morris-Blodgett Drop Forge Co. of Marshalltown, Iowa - but none of my sources seems to know the origins of the name.

I want one! It looks like a nice allround tool to have in the car for work. I dont often need a hammer or a wrench, but those times i do, its real annoying when I dont have it
