I keep waiting for the power to go out

Funny thing is, the Surefire L1 on high is rated at 65 lumens, the Fenix on high at 225 with an advertised throw of over 200 meters. Dont know where they got that figure from, its 225 lumens for sure, but 200 meter throw? Not hardly. Dont get me wrong, it throws very well, but nowhere near 650 feet. The Surefire with its "TIR" reflector has a throw equal to that of the Fenix.

That Dorcy in the pic it pretty bright too, advertised 120 lumens, its bright and a great search light to play with, but the switch is really cheesy. I would never depend on it as a primary light...cool toy, nothing more.

I think they figure out the throw number based on the Lux reading at a certain distance. Flashlightreviews used to use the benchmark of 1 lux at X meters to get the throw #. I have a feeling Fenix is using 1/2 lux or less than that to get the 200 meter mark.

Nice collection. Tell me about the Dorcy light, haven't seen that one before.

Its hard to decide which to use as an edc. It was generally the 6P LED until the Fenix arrived, now its a really tough choice. The L1 is great to clip to a pocket. The Fenix or 6P goes on my belt in a Bianchi accu-mold holder... Very compact and comfy.

As for that particular Dorcy, save your money. It has a LED in the tail, green for good batteries, red for low almost dead cells. Very bright light with excellent throw. The switch is very floppy and feels incredibly cheap and overall construction just kind of stinks. I know Dorcy is not the best, but most of their lights seem solid enough except for this model... Neat toy, nothing else.

Not much.
Most of them run on rechargeable batteries (RCR123).
