I got my Tread a few weeks ago, but I’ve only just got round to playing about with the fit.

With two full size links out it’s just too tight to be comfortable, so I’ve taken out one full size link (Link 9 for now) and Link 1.

I’m considering ordering another Link 1 before they sell out and trying it with two full size links removed and the extra Link 1 inserted.

Hi everyone, I have a Leatherman Tempo watch, and one of the recessed screws connecting the Tread bracelet to the watch case fell off.

Does anyone know what is the thread size of the screws used in the Tread?  I want to find a replacement screw.  I emailed info@leatherman.com and they said the product is discontinued, and they can no longer find specifications of the screw.  :-(

Sorry to say I do not know this info :-\ was that LM US? Hopefully someone will be along that knows what type of screw it is :salute: or at least where you might go to find one? Jewelry store or watch store maybe :think:

  Decided to wear the Tread again to work. Today needed a phillips screwdriver. Normal screwdriver was buried under carpet samples, so off came the Tread to loosen these bolts so I could replace a customer-damaged display board.  ;)

  Still do not understand why Leatherman discontinued so many of their tools. Withed there was a locking clasp option for the Tread to have a can opener to replace the bottle opener, and to use dual ball bearings as opposed to just one.

FYI, the knock off treads from aliexpress cost about 20 bucks and their clasp comes with two ball bearings, one on each side. If you like your tread it's probably worth buying one just for spare parts unless you loaded up from leatherman when they were discontinued.

Not sure eith the angle you could ever get a can opener to replace the bottle opener unless you did a flip out blade design like some of the old GI openers.

Might be worth checking aliexpress, they sell these connectors and with leatherman saying they won't help you I have no problem supporting knockoffs.

I finally found the thread size of the screws used in the Tread and Tempo.  It's #4-48.  Here is a screw that decently substitutes as a recessed screw for the Tempo watch case:  https://www.mcmaster.com/91251A235/

  Biggest issue with the Tread is the clasp comes undone far too easily. Someone tossed a bouncing ball at me, pop went the clasp. Catching balls, even melons does it. Is the a neodymium magnet mod/fix for the unclasping clasp thing?

  Did bring that up to Juli of Leatherman ages ago and wondered why they did not have opposing ball clasps on there. The reply was that people wound not be able to remove the clasp well, as some have hand issues. Maybe I ought to find a thick O ring, roll it over on a link, and back over the clasp. Cheap way of doing it. A magnet would be more awesome.

  Does anyone happen to know what neodymium magnets (size or link) that fit inside the authentic Tread links?

    Used to have one that fit inside rather easily but it went with the original one that I sent to Tracy. Am still trying to find a magnet suitable for the 1/4" hex wrench link for now.

  The inner side of mine also mottled out over the years cause of my type of sweat. It is wore down to the bare metal under there, but it is not polished. Not rusted either.
