I have two write-in votes for the poll. I vote for Mother of Pearl (MoP) and Stayglow scales. I loved the beauty of the MoP and the durability of the Stayglow scales. My personal two favorites.

Electronic and Cellidor. (which includes Silver Tech and Jelly scales as you call them)The electronic scales are my absolute fav. Electronic models are what got me into SAKs in the first place. I love the 58mm's white led and the 91mm's digital watch/useless other stuff like barometer.Good ol'fashion cellidor. It's the standard; they come packed with tools (plus), easily replaced, and ages way better (with use) than Alox. Who's finish will eventually scratch off and look ugly, some say it gives it character... I do not.
For me, Nylon best for EDC. After some time, printed shield wears away, and the scales develop a silky patina.Doesn't show scratches, non-slip, not affected by hot water should you need to wash the knife in hot water or dishwasher, after immersion in something nasty ! Can be popped off and re-used 2 or 3 times. Also, Nylon scales are available in Red, Black, Blue and white in 91mm, and 84 mm, with or without printed shield. Easiest way to obtain red Nylon 91mm scales is to buy a Ecoline Spartan and steal the scales from it, and replace with Cellidor. An extra Spartan will always come in handy at some time. I have around 180 Saks in the collection, with many different coloured scales, and 6 'users', for EDC, always Nylon on the 'users'.To see just which scales are available, visit victorinox.com-media-sys...........,print out, and drool .......
Alox.

Faded anodizing, scratches, and dents result in a patina. Wabi-sabi is a better term for it. Plastic does not age as well. Scratched and dented plastic is just ....scratched and dented plastic. Underwhelming. Other materials get a nice patina; wood, horn, etc. But Alox is more durable and easier to clean. Plastic and wood scales are susceptible to solvents.
Have to go alox. I like everything about it with the exception of not getting any back tools or scissors, but even so I like alox scales more than any other.
Nylon, in my very limited experience is my favorite. Very disappointed to learn that 58mm nylon scales are rare. I was hoping to have a 58mm, 91mm and 111mm all in nylon.
