Victorinox Workchamp purchased from BestBuy.ca
on: February 07, 2014, 01:41:37 AM
I purchased a Workchamp from Bestbuy.ca.  It arrived on Feb 4.  Took it out of the box, started opening all the blades.  The main (locking) blade has a lot (approx .5mm) of side to side and up down play.  The more I wiggle the worse it gets.  The can opener is the same.  Pliers have some side to side movement, the rest of the tools are good.  Compared it to my fourteen year old Compact - no play on any of the tools.  I emailed BestBuy's customer service straight away.  No reply so far.  Re-sent the email again today.  I don't expect the situation to be fixed immediately, but a reply acknowledging my email would be good.  Did a quick Google search and found a lot of complaints about their customer service...

Wondering a few things:
Anyone else had this problem with a Workchamp?
Anyone else had to warranty a Victorinox with Bestbuy?
Should I just contact Victorinox Canada and not even bother with Bestbuy? (not sure what the protocol is).

The slide lock blades dont lock up as nice as the other lock types, but if it feels really loose side to side and other tools are moving side to side too then the main rivet there probably isnt tight enough.

Im sure Vic would warranty that no problem but bestbuy should honor a return and exchange too.

Now I gotta look and check their prices, hard to find good places to buy Vics in Canada.

I though bestbuy sold things like TVs and Ipods.
Not useful things like SAKs... I can't even find SAKs where I should be able to find SAKs.

As far as my experience with BestBuy, you should be able to return anything no questions asked with in 30 days no matter what. Even if you bought from Bestbuy's website.

But this is the States, and again didn't know BestBuy even dabbled in SAKs.

Hm ya their prices are pretty high.

I like the 'micra' here.  :D

http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/leatherman-leatherman-micra-10-tool-utility-64010101k/10184026.aspx?path=0997cfb27a7cd322e8385b88abccf7cfen02

I had some gift vouchers from them, so didn't do a lot of price checking.
Haha, yeah that's a sweet micra...  Noticed some other mislabelled stuff when I was first looking at their site.
