Just found myself watching the ice hockey, USA vs Russia.  Frankly I found it all very scrappy, no-one seemed to know what was going to happen next and even the players seemed surprised when they scored.  Or am I being a totally unfair novice spectator? :D  The shoot-out was good to watch though. :tu:

That was an excellent game.  :tu:  We had it on here at the store.  The US got a bit lucky with that goal being waved off.  In the NHL that probably would have counted......

The goal came off its mooring on the left side.  Just a little bit, but enough for play to be blown dead instantly.

Hang on, wasn't it the USA goalie who kicked it out of place?  Seems an excellent defensive strategy to me. :D

:D  He knocked it off while going to make a save.  That's legal.  If he had pushed it off as the Russians were coming into the zone, he would have gotten a delay of game penalty.  It's one of those little rules that a game can hinge on.  Just don't ask me to explain offsides in hockey.....  :)

US mens' hockey just keeps on rolling along!  :tu:  they won their group today with a 5-1 win over Slovenia today, which means they have a quarterfinal bye.  The knockout round now begins.   But damn I'm missing my NHL fix.....

I feel really bad for the Spanish athletes competing, the coverage of the winter games has been pretty pathetic here. Apart from the online streams which I believe is run by the IOA with them dubbing in the commentary (and rarely at that) there is only the national sports channel airing events on TV... and they are only airing Olympics about 8h/day...

I know Spain is not really a winter sports country, but a little more support of an international sporting event wouldn't be bad. I believe the spanish athletes even pay their way etc without any support.

That being said, Canada seems to be doing quite well :D

Canada isn't doing too bad, I think. 8th place on the medal-standings, with 17 medals, of which 9 are silver (yes, even an ice-skating medal or two  )

That final shot by Murdoch yesterday was nothing short of incredible! :o What a ballsy move, and a fitting end to a great match. The wife and I were sitting on the edge of our seats watching the whole thing.  :tu:
