I saw that one too, I think it was once known as the 232ka but I'm not sure.
Also, this one is much newer.

It was a 232ka. Basically a Voyageur with cellidor sales instead of alox. You see these from the mid 60s to the early 1970s. This one looked like it was an early 1970s model. IIRC, ICanFixThat started a thread about them a while ago after he picked up one NIB.

It's actually a pretty rare knife. I have one in my "for trade" pile if anyone is interested.

I'm going to build a Voyager from a Golfer and Bantam, sooner or later.
Still need to pick up scales for the project. In fact I want to make two; a Red vs Blue thing...

Someone posted a link to a vintage SAK on ebay in the Crazy price thread the other day that turned out to be a climber small which I got thanks to GigaHz so would pay to check them as well before posting.

I have a faux-Voyageur built from an Alox Bantam and scissors layer from a small climber.
It really is a great little package and disappears in your pocket like a cadet with scissors just manages to miss doing.

It is a pity that Vic' discontinued the Voyageur. It's one I would like to see come back.

Funny, I heard that when it was around it was often used as an advertising/promo knife because it was small and cheap. Now they are like unicorn poo.

Voyageurs are great little knives. Their selling price I think is a combination of them being a popular design (like you said, great knife for disappearing in your pocket) and some internet lore that they are "super rare". They're not - one goes up for sale on eBay about once a month. Unusual sure, but not really "rare" IMO. The cellidor versions like the one that started this thread) go up for sale about once a year by comparison.

Some alox variants are truly rare, though - like mint condition red ones. Those you do not see selling once a month.

Well I used to. ;) But Inky stopped listing his or sold it. :D After that one sold for over 1k the prices went sky high for a while, like always.
