While Canal Street was still in business I took a liking to their Barlows and added 1 every year.
They check all my boxes as a modern Barlow.
Two are 14-4CrMo, the black micarta is 440C, stainless liners and bolsters.

I regret not buying any, from a collectors point of view.
Treasure them, as they are bound to go up in price

I bought them to use, not knowing CSC would go out of business, so they have all been sharpened and used. These days I only carry the Chestnut, I'll let the other two retire early.

They are all as perfect as a knife comes, I miss CSC.

If you like the size, the standard lick creek, single blade, is half the price of the SFO Barlow.

With my RA, the #15 frame is about my lower limit on usability. I Like the #85 as well but usually go for bigger knives like the #23 and #53. I need to get all the GEC out and shoot a pic.
  :wait:

:ahhh  Ok, ok! I had a big mail call today.....

I'll try to get 'em together. I don't have a bunch but they're in several different places.

Done!

I have a few of them;a really good everyday work knife. Will have to dig them out to get all the names but the first picture(4th down)shows a Remington granddaddy Barlow with fish scaler atop the blade.
Second pic shows a Kutmaster(top)that has been converted to a single blade(pen blade was broken);not sure what the second one is but the extended center liner is unusual. The 3rd knife marked Tip Top is by Schrade and is a bit unusual in that it has a jigged wood handle on one side and a smooth bone on the other. Looks original(could be a replacement)and may be a salesman's sample although I have never seen wood scales from the factory.Last one in this pic is a Schrade Old Timer.
Third pic marked XLNT is a Kent;second is a Geo.Wostenholmn I*XL;third is a real John Russell Barlow with a sheepfoot master blade;and last is an unusually small German barlow.
Fourth pic is a pair of Case Granddaddy Barlows.I ground an easy open notch in one because it was almost impossible to open the blade any other way.

A few more:
First pic is a Colonial Barlow with an unusual secondary blade:a locking screwdriver/wire stripper similar to a TL-29 electrician's knife.
Second is a Keen Kutter Granddaddy Barlow with a well used blade.Couldn't pass this one up;bet it has some stories to tell!
Third pic is a Remington Barlow that has been well used.
The last pic is of a cheap Pakistani Barlow. The story is not so much the knife but the person who gave it to me.A good friend and customer of many years who supplied me with many clients for my business.Sadly he has had multiple strokes in the past few years that have left him in pretty rough shape as regard to memory and speech. While over to his shop one day painting another of his many custom pedal cars we got to talking about my knife collecting and he goes over to his tool box and comes back with this knife and hands it to me.Tells me it belonged to his grandfather and that he knows I will take good care of it.
Now I know that the knife was probably made in the last 10-15 years and he is in his 70's so I doubt it was his grandfather's. But the thought behind the knife was what made it special to me. Sadly he passed away a couple months ago. Anyway that is the story.

My five Barlows that have been used. The grey one with scrolled bolsters has only seen formal carry at weddings and such like. The buffalo horn IXL is single blade

The sixth one has never been carried. It's pretty much identical to the other IXL but with rosewood scales and a brass tipped pocket steel.

Bolster detail, the amount of wear from extended carry on the herringbone, and a sheath with pocket steel that gets used very rarely.

The build is good , easy to pinch open, and the scales are surprisingly grippy.

I was worried that they would be sliddy.

The size feels fine, not too slim in the hand, about a 3 - 3.5 finger grip

Boy this is an old thread!

There have been some very cool Barlows posted here.

I only have two Big Daddy Barlows or more accurately known as Grand Daddy Barlows.

Although because of the blade configuration of my two blade Barlow,I sometimes refer to it as a Trapper Barlow.
