Excellent pair.   A lot can get done with those two at hand.  My Izula has been naked since getting it but I'm feeling inclined to clothe it seeing yours.

ESEE's micarta is really nice.  It has enough texture to be non-slip without being too rough.  There are other companies that make G-10 scales or printed scales and of course you can always carve your own out of wood or do a paracord wrap.

I've seen the G10 and it does look nice.  So far I've enjoyed using mine without any handle covers.  I do like the look and feel of Micarta.  We'll see.

Thanks, Aloha! Do you have the original Izula or the II? I should get a little more serious about acquiring a band saw and a drill press...

I have the original.  I added a paracord handle wrap but took it off almost immediately.  Because I use this knife at times in wet situations the cord didn't work for me.

I don't find the knife uncomfortable so I've just left it naked.

Today I'll carry both, well over the course of the day that is.  Izula for work and GEC for inside.

A very capable duo! :tu: I like the mid you did to the Izula sheath...has me wondering if the clip plate would work in a side draw setup.

You can mount the factory clip sideways for horizontal carry.  I didn't like the ESEE scabbard carried sideways because the knife is handle heavy so the knife and scabbard wanted to hang handle down.  This might be improved by tying a tassel to the bottom hole for a counterweight, but it would have to be really heavy like a steel ball bearing monkey's fist or a heavy bead.  I just went ahead and bought the Bradford Guardian sheath for it which I find is a great improvement. Aloha probably doesn't have the problem because he doesn't have the handle scales on his knife.

Thanks.  I did the paracord wrap but when it got wet I decided to take it off.  I dont mind it naked.  The color is really fun.  Its a really good little knife that can do a lot.

Carried one that is pretty special to me.  Got it in a GAW from NIX.  I had wanted to try 3V which had me looking at a lot of knives.  The Bushcrafter was one of many.  I won for which I am still very grateful.  Its a wonderful knife that will hopefully be passed thru many generations of mine.

Please don't let its good looks fool you.  I use it.  As with any fixed blade I am carrying it will be used in my kitchen.  It's not the most agile but I can peel cucumbers, slice very ripe tomato, and do anything I need.  Don't you just love those pretty dark red/burgandy handle slabs?  When most knives of this heritage come in wood handles this one stands out.

Always thankful for this superb knife.

My Izula II doesn't see hard use yet, but I sure do love it. I now feel somehow incomplete when I can't have it around my neck.

FX, its easy to carry which makes any knife IMO one I want to carry.  It's not bad looking either.  No hard use needed as you saw 3V on kitchen duty ;).  Its there for whatever you'll need or just to fondle.

Just arrived! This Buck 113 Ranger was opened with the ESEE  JG3 which I've been carrying for a week and then immediately took the JG3's place on my belt.  It shouldn't take me long to figure out if the 113 cuts and carries as good as it looks.

All these Izula post are making me really want to replace the one I can’t find.

I’d be surprised if you don’t like the way 113 cuts.  As far as carry, that is more subjective.  I use a Bradford horizontal sheath instead of the one it came with and like it better.

Still carrying the Buck 113 Ranger.  I really like this knife but I wish either the sheath hung a little bit lower or the knife fit further into the sheath because the butt of the knife is poking me in my side fat when I sit.  I may just add a couple of inches with a dangler.

Well, I need to lose the overhanging girth, but for the time being a dangler may be easier. ::)

Thanks.

Its a great knife.  By the looks you wouldn't think I use it much.  Its held up quite well for what I use it for.  I've taken it to work, camping, hiking, and general use around the home.  Its very comfortable in hand.  Its easy to put a keen edge on tho you'll have to look after that exposed metal as it will rust.  The black coating in the right light shows marring but its holding up great.  The micarta is smooth with no sharp edges.

It is handle heavy which for me makes for nimble blade use.  The jimping is nice and smooth so no torn up thumbs.  I'd say its a goldilocks in terms of size, blade thickness, materials, and my purposes.  The sheath does it job and hold my knife rock solid.  I have a leather sheath I also use.

I like the finger choil tho my fat finger does get quite close to the edge.  I've had this knife for a while now and enjoy it as much as I do my Bark River knives.

I did work on the edge as I was not happy with the cutting performance.  I was still pretty new at the time to sharpening and terminology.  I have 17dps with 20dps micro bevel.  I think I am sayin that correct?  This thing is awesome.  I don't know the specs on the heat treat but goodness, whatever it is they nailed it.

I've had this one a while as well.  Mtech 8063 with 440C steel which I tend to believe.  Its been a solid knife given that I purposely abuse it.  I sanded the black paint or whatever was on the blade and had to sand the handles cause they were very aggressive.  They could still use another sanding tbh.

This fixed blade is pretty close to my RAT3 in terms of size, shape, and feel in hand.  Its a little heavier at the handle but not bad at all.  I actually like this choil much better.  The sheath is very tactical but does the job.  I have a leather sheath for this one as well.  I primarily use it at home.

I've dulled this blade something awful hitting concrete and making contact with gravel.  I have no issues using this blade as hard as I need to.  Don't we all have a beater knife?

I can get this knife back to razor sharpness on my Lansky guided system with no problems.  I have to say I really like this knife and I'm certain it would stand up to a survival or tactical situation.  It does need work out the box but thats fun for me so no problems.
