Appreciate it.  Some journaling while the weather was nice.  Rains were on the way and they are here now.

Bark River Canadian Special.  Lot of knife for a rainy day but I really like it.

So whenever I carry a blaster I carry what I call a get off me knife. Something to help protect against a gun grab.

Often a Clinch Pick or CRKT Minimalist worn weak side appendix.

Lately this has been my choice. If you can throw a punch you can use this knife.

Index finger goes in the hole and you just make a fist over the handle. Easy peezy.

Interesting variation on the theme.  I had been thinking about a Ka Bar TDI for years and never did get one.  I did get this similar knife to prove the concept.   However, carrying a knife for defense means you don't use it for anything else lest it become dull, or damaged, or lost.  Then you wouldn't have it when you needed it.  That whole carrying a knife and not using it concept didn't work for me.  I hope my situational awareness is enough to keep a bad guy far enough away to avoid grappling.  I would absolutely carry one if I was a cop though.  They have real need these days.

Hmm not sure I buy into the keep everyone far away or the bad guy will always telegraph his intentions.

As for carrying something I won’t use except in the worst of circumstances…

Pretty much the definition of my blaster. 25 years daily carry never once needed it.

All that said something in between gun and harsh words is probably much more likely to be needed. Say OC spray.

Forgot to add I teach CQB to Homeland folks and Police departments and almost without fail they all carry small fixed blades on their kit.

For what that’s worth.

Your life experience is worth quite a bit.  What you say makes sense, but I carry too much stuff already.  For what it is worth I can recommend the knife I bought for this use.  It's from Bud K, model BK3313, if they still have it.

Nice blades.  I have a TDI and its a nice blade.  I don't carry it but I do like to carry oc spray.  I don't carry it mainly because its just not something I'd use.

Today I'm carrying Bark River Bush Seax.

Thank you, its A2.
https://knifesteelnerds.com/2019/04/22/a2-steel-history-and-properties/

I don't use it hard even tho I think it could take it.  I enjoy it as a heavy duty knife around the house.  I have also taken it camping which its done quite well.  Love the shape of the blade and man its comfortable in hand.

Blade edge of about 4 1/2in and over all of about 10in.

One of my most favorites Benchmade 183 in S30V.  Not the easiest sheath the carry so I added the attachment so I can dangle from my belt.  It works out good.  Its a big knife and I like that.

Its a heck of a piece of S30V that for sure.  The knife I carried the other day is as large with a thicker blade stock.  Both are 10" OAL which is big for me even.  I tend to prefer smaller blades tho it was love at first sight and use.

Going with small fixed blade today.  Can't say enough about this little knife.  While many wrap the handle or buy nice handles I'm still enjoying mine as is.  I may pick up handles at some point but so far so good.

I wear it between 1 and 2 o'clock so I can draw with my left hand.

Nice, but it’s my only fixed, everything else I own is folding.. except for like two emergency type that only have a pull blade that you can’t cut yourself on..

I enjoy fixed blades when I work because I know I'll be needing it often.  One motion to be ready to use which for me works best.  I also like the ability to use "harder" as needed.  Clean up is simple, typically less expensive for similar materials, also for me much easier access.

At home I enjoy them for much of the same reasons.  I don't "hard" use them but I'm not worried ever how hard I use them, if that makes sense.

I'm also not worried to hand to my partner or someone fairly capable with knives.  Most folks use kitchen knives and have some idea how to handle one.

I've been carrying the Buck 113 Ranger since I got it in early February.  It carries well and is a pleasure to use.

There you go. Today’s General Lee and SwissCard for reference. I know Picoeur is aimed solely for the tactical/karambit fighting/Libre-style market but I think it serves as a general knife as well. I originally bought it as a first aid/seat belt cutter type of tool but have found it more versatile than that. And once in a awhile I do mix up my knife training with it as well
