That is one sweet knife! Did they leave the Micarta a little rough, as ESEE does?

It's grippy, but not as rough as ESEE.

I'm sporting a Kansbol today.  This is the only fixed blade I own, and don't feel the need for anything else.

I like Moras.  In their various configurations they really are all most people need.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Great knife NS.  The Mora is time tested and a great knife.

It just so happens I have been carrying my Frosts laminated Mora.  I love the size of this knife.  I got the sheath a while ago and I'm seeing how I like the fit of it.  So far so good.

I had carried the LionSteel H1 through most of October and it really carries well but I decided today to start carrying other knives.  First up is the CRKT Hunt'N Fisch which is still the standard by which I judge all others. Here's a recycled photo because I'm feeling too lazy to take a new picture tonight.

Thats says a lot about the HnF knife.  I go in phases with my fixed blades.  I'll reach for one without really giving it much thought then all of a sudden its another.

Man!! Now I have to get a hest as well!! I just went through all 67 pages of this thread!! I carry a small fixed blade cross draw 11oclock everyday. It's a $30 Amazon D2 and it has been very good to me the past 2 years. How has the toughness been on the hest? Has anyone really abused it like stripping wire, cutting cordage, occasionally light prying? Sorry just throwing out some beat up blade duties hahahaah

Hi 201...  welcome to :MTO:  The HEST has been up to every EDC use I have put it up to from cutting up cardboard to hacking through stuff in the garden.  Aloha's HEST has seen some really hard use from himself and the previous owners.  It was designed to be a do everything, general purpose knife for adventurers, and I believe it succeeds in that regard.  If you get one I don't know if you can carry it in a horizontal sheath because of the sharp pry tool at the end of the handle.  It is dangerously sharp as it is meant to pry open nailed shut wooden crates.  The only way I could safely carry it was when I got the vertical carry sheath with the full flap that covered the pry tool.  If you get the DPX HEST II Woodsman, it comes from the factory with a full flap sheath.  As of today I have seen several on E-bay.

I would most certainly recommend a HEST.  Mine had 2 previous owners I believe . It came to me having been used hard I'd imagine cause it sure looked like it.  I really like my HEST a lot.  It was carried a lot over the years and still is carried and trusted.  Its a brute that can withstand most of what I've thrown at it.

I have done some rougher things with it at work and around the house. Cordage, cardboard, hacking a couple inch thick tree branches, and in the kitchen all no problem.  I have disassembled pallets and needed to pry ( I used the blade not the end )  with no issues.

I'll tell ya what, this 1095 can get wicked sharp.  I have a convex edge on mine, its thick but will go thru foods decently.  The micarta handle is very nice wet or dry.  I did have some initial learning with the pry end so as not to get poked.  I've never used the bottle opener.

I used to compare my RAT3 to my HEST but they are quite different.  I think my BK2 is more akin the the HEST.  The HEST being smaller in stature of course but no less capable.

I don't post much but I thought I would share this.  The fixed blade I'm carrying today is a Randall Fireman Special with a stainless blade and black micarta handle.  I ordered it direct from Randall and waited 5 years and 8 months to get it. I haven't had a chance to use it much but I like it so far.  Hopefully the picture uploads.

The Canadian belt knife.  Ergonomic and eminently useful since 1958.  I'm glad to see this one in your rotation. :hatsoff:

I've yet to pick up an Grohmann but I will one day.  I've loved the pattern and was happy to pick this one up.  Its a favorite and I should show it off more.  Not a thin blade but I've been able to do quite a bit with it from outdoors to kitchen.

Cutting and storing bark from last years birches felled for firewood. The greatest and easiest kindling, and a lot of it. We cut down ten trunks of different sizes.

This Marttiini is nothing special, but it does the job.

Today was the Spartan Enyo most of the day.  But the White River ATK also got a little carry after changing the handle wrap.
