That's an interesting looking knife. Are you supposed to put your finger through the large hole, or is that how it locks into the scabbard?
The Brisa would be a great choice!
I have to say, the folks at Bark River really put some thought into what makes a good EDC fixed blade knife. I wish it was more affordable. Sherry, your two Essentials are different steels, aren't they? Do you have a preference?
I started the day with the White River M1 Backpacker on my belt but then the mail arrived and the Backpacker was used to open a package. Inside was the Bark River Necker that I purchased from Sherry (Sos24) by making a donation to help a friend of hers who went through a terrible tragedy. There are plenty of other knives and tools still available on Sherry's list in the tools for sale forum if anyone else would like to help. Anyway, the Bark River Necker is 6 and 1/4 inches of goodness in bright orange Kydex. There's no clip on the scabbard so, for now, I will pocket carry it. Thanks again, Sherry.
Cool knife! I only wish its sale hadn't been brought on by such bad circumstances.
The slot milled in the top of the blade of the Bark River is the same color as the weathered wood. Does that mean it goes all the way through, or does it just happen to be the same shade? Best wishes. G
And now for something completely different. The DPx H.E.S.T. and a Swiss Tool. I've given it some thought and this is what I'd want with me on Alone, if I was ever to compete on that show. They are both indestructible beasts, and I like the Swiss Tool better than the Surge that most competitors show up with.
Cheers Mags. I think there have been at least 3 manufacturers of the DPX H.E.S.T. knife. ESEE, Ontario, and Lionsteel. Mine is by Lionsteel, the last ones to build this knife. Not an endorsement, although I do like Lionsteel, it's just what turned up at a reasonable price on ebay. I'd wanted one for a long time and would have been happy with any of them.
