I think fine grit is the way to go and with a little effort should have that red gone in no time.
Ya fine wet/dry sandpaper will take it off pretty easy. Id use 400 or maybe 600 grit. You could use chemical methods but thats messier than needed for this job.

I don't know about some of their keychain-sized tools like the P4, just so many problems with them. Luckily the Micra and Style CS seem to be pretty reliable...

Ya the warranty isnt much good if the tools doenst exist anymore and you get a crappy replacement.
They make a es4 http://www.leatherman.com/21.html#start=23I'm going to send it in.they should replace it with one of them.I hope I'm still going to miss the little Phillips of the radio shack
