WTB/WTTF 5/8 copper Rod
on: January 29, 2014, 05:50:41 AM
I have been struck with the need to make some more of these Delta Markers I made.

http://metrogradegoods.com/metro-made-the-delta-marker/

But now I want to make one out of copper, any MTO bros or gals have some 5/8" copper rod in their stores?

Hey I know the site says the marker isn't for sale but figured I'd give it a shot lol. I work in the film industry and like you can't live without a sharpy as edc. If you decide to sell one of these id like first dibs. Thanks and good luck finding the copper you need.

In my experience in the film experience, you need access to sharpie quicker than you unscrew the cap :). If I had a CNC lathe, it would be a much easier answer, but right now it's still a 2 hour project. I haven't resolved the clip issue yet.

Good point. I did not realize it was a screw cap design. If you ever make one that's a fast draw design please let me know. Thanks.

I can never find this type of thing in Canada and always end up buying form onlinemetals

They ship to Canada fine, but not very cheaply. This is where I buy all my brass and Al though for liner making, but I try to buy lots at once to make it worthwhile.

Not sure what grade of copper you're after but they have lots.

I ended up getting a length from McMaster. Soooo worth it. I also found some from a Random eBay seller.

I bought tellurium copper which is a dream to machine. The results:

Those Sharpies do look sharp!

I have a chunk of aluminium Rod, I guess about 30x250-300 mm.
Are you maybe interested in a trade?

I can measure it exactly.

I have lots of 6160 5/8. That's pretty common. ;)

I know - just thought you might have a use other than sitting on a shelf and maybe had some LM implements that are gathering dust.
No problem, It´ll sit here and wait until I have a use for it.
