Want to learn Spanish
on: April 02, 2014, 09:09:12 PM
So around my area Spanish is a very prominent language as we have a huge number of legal/illegal immigrants in the area. Leave any opinions out of this thread. Anyways, I always wanted to learn Spanish and it would be used frequently. Just wondering if anyone knows of any FREE websites or programs that I can use to learn Spanish. I'm not talking like a FREE trial then you have to pay to complete the course, but a completely FREE way to learn as much as you wan't. Thanks everyone.

I'm not really sure if it's good or not but:

http://www.elanguageschool.net/spanish

They have several other languages too. That should at least get you started with the basics...

I live in a town with a large Hispanic (mostly Colombian) population as well.  I keep telling myself to get the Rosetta Stone program, since Spanish would also be very useful at work as well.  The price puts me off though.

When I started (apart from 100% immersion, living in Spain) I got some basic exercise books including the "spanish for dummies"

I didn't think about that. It would definitely be a good book to have.  :tu:

This is the route that I went. Spanish for Dummies helped me quite a bit, but the immersion (Antigua, Guatemala) helped a bit as well ;)

There is also babbel.com, they also have apps for Android or IPhone. I have the swedish App. Good for building your vocabulary!
With the apps, you have to speak the vocabularies into the microphone, so you learn the proper way of saying it!  :tu:

I think they are from Germany, but I can change my language to 'english' in the options.
