So I think I want to start my first modification. Rebar awl into a charge to replace the small eyeglass screwdriver. Any tips? What's the best tools for opening the rebar?

Thanks for your help.

Get the loki wrenches  :tu:

:iagree: those wrenches are the best if you plan on modding anything Leatherman :salute:

I believe that the awl is thicker than the eyeglass driver, so might have to remove some washers as well  and perhaps shuffle things around to make sure it closes

Hi guys.  :hatsoff:

Leatherman KICK WAVE was my first moded used tool.
(Big screwdriver from REV cause i need a little bit thinner,
Awl from SURGE which has to be grinded to fit)
Here in Germany you can get problem with police when you have a locking knive with you, which can open by one hand.
Not so good to use but was a compromise.
In combi with Victorinox Manager was my edc.

Btw... always good to have magnets and pin with you  ;)

 :iagree:

That's a neat solution! You get the best features of both the Wave (outside-accessible tools) and the Kick (nonlocking, interior blade to stay legal), combined with a useful selection of tools. Doesn't look like too much of a compromise to me.

I'm glad that Leatherman (just like Victorinox) has re-used the same parts (like the medium flathead screwdriver and the Wave/Charge/Blast/Kick/Fuse/Bond/Curl plier head) interchangeably in so many different multitools. It makes modding a Leatherman so much easier!
Current SAKs: Explorer, SwissChamp, Handyman (modded), Climber, Super Tinker, Tinker, Woodsman (modded), Electrician, Pioneer, SwissTool, Executive, Ambassador, Champion Plus
Current Leatherman tools: PST, Original Wave, Wave, Wave+, Blast, Bond, Curl, Style PS, Micra

Gents,

Let me first say, that I am not worthy. I've been a "tinkerer" of all manner for the entirety of my existence. But never in all my years have I seen it taken to this level. It's simply incredible! I think I've taken more screenshots on this thread than I have ever before. Your works are simply art of the highest caliber. I feel that they should be framed with back lighting, and soft classical music playing in the background. Your spouses, children, coworkers, and relatives don't appreciate you enough for the beauty you bring into this boring world.

There's not much I can add to this thread by way of mods or tweaks. All I can offer is my unquestionable appreciation for all that you do, and will do in the future. Keep it up boys. The world needs you!

Your #1 fan Diggler lol

Kind words, Dirk :salute: but we are all just regular guys with  different needs and happened to change what was currently available to suit needs :tu: and as they say "necessity is the mother of all invention " :D

Saying that though, MTO does have really are some talented modders here (most of the time I feel not worthy myself to be in their company :ahhh ) :salute:

Lol bro I get it. I know "regular guys". Lots of em. They go to bed at 9:30, and make sure they have the proper amount of fiber in their diets. They stop drinking when they've had just enough, and avoid 3rd hand smoke because MSNBC tells them it's the devil.

But we beautiful irregulars are what make this place interesting. We obsess, overindulge, and tango with excess with a thorny rose clutched in our teeth. We live it to the fullest, burn it out the fastest, and rage into the deep hours of the night. We put on our "normal" mask as we start our day to day sure. But somewhere that voice inside calls us. To get back in that shop. Climb that tree stand. Or build that next project in the backyard that will be the envy of every passerby. They'll be thinking "that's a great thing he did". We're thinking "I couldn't NOT do it!"

From one "Normal guy" to another. I say "I see you, and you rock!"

 all wives do bud. They are the balance. We'd be bankrupt, and lost without them lol that's why cummunes like this exist haha

Ok, no more feely/heartfelt sentiment from me lol to business.

I've always considered a Philips driver pointless with the large bit exchanger, but since reading many posts on here I've had a change of heart. The depth of a screw can at times prove difficult with the wide flat leatherman bits. Can a rebar Philips be dropped into a wave plus without any fancy grinding? I imagine I'd have to drop some tools, and maybe reorganize. But I'd hate to do anything that would void a warranty as my wave is a virgin beauty fresh off the assembly line lol

Dirk, although it drops in and locks, you'll have to remove the pliers rest pin so that it sits in flush; the driver will be now your pliers head rest, like in the Rebar/ST300. So, the swap can potentially void the warranty. :dunno:

I regularly go to bed around 9:30. Otherwise, I am fairly "irregular", though perhaps not in a cool way  :D

I'll consider that my strike 1 lol I'll save anymore nonsense jabber like that for the "Refurb/salvage/preservation thread"  :tu:
