I think alox will still be the gold bouillon of the SAK world for quite some time.

Another guess ;)

The blue Pioneers and Farmers, like the orange Farmers from Cutlery Shoppe, were sold out in a few days. Both sellers are very happy and do know now that people like colored Alox. They will re-order another batch of these knives from Victorinox and in about 4-6 weeks these knives will be available again.

If you didn't get one, don't panic, just relax and wait a bit.  :D

Pre-ordered a blue Pioneer at the online shop but just got refunded with the notice that they aren't available. Anyone got lucky with those?

I think it is the best to order via Amazon. It's the same seller "vavorit", but when Amazon writes "Versand durch Amazon" (Shipped by amazon) it means, that the knives are already in the Amazon warehouse and you can be sure, that they are really available. I already ordered two red Pioneers this way and had absolutely no problems.  :tu:  But when i wrote an Email to "vavorit GmbH" about other available Aloxes, i did not get a response until today  ???

And now, i already ordered three of those beatiful blue farmers  :gimme: and i hope the pioneers will also be available soon  :gimme: :gimme: :gimme:

Just ordered a blue framer from amazon.de.  No problems besides translating German to English.

Well, I don't know for certain what achindoon was on about but I was just saying I had just successfully bought one of those blue framers from Amazon's German website.

Based on my experience I'd say any of our members living inside the EU should be able to buy them without any problems.

I think this is absolutely wonderful that folks are able to get these for a fair price. I hope they make it to U.S. vendors although I already have 2 red Pioneers which makes me pretty well set. Those are my favorite Alox pieces. I might not mind picking up a blue Pioneer though. Guess I'll have to be patient and see. :)

the Amazon seller with the blue farmers is the same company as swissknifeshop.de. When you look at the Imprint (Impressum) you read "vavorit GmbH" both times. At Amazon, you can be sure, the number of items in stock is correct and Amazon has experience with shipping abroad.

Are you serious [about selling your Farmers for a profit]?  :)

Mostly.  I have probably 5 or so NIB red or blue Farmers in the Powernoodle Arsenal, plus several users.  Some of the boxes are still sealed in plastic wrap.  Maybe today the NIB ones are each worth $80US or $100US - just a guess.  If red or blue Farmers are reissued, mine will then be worth $35US (or whatever).  The users I will keep just to play with, use, fondle, sniff, rub on my forehead and all of the strange stuff we do with our toys.  But the NIB versions?  I might as well turn them into $400 - $500 now, rather than watch them depreciate to $175 if new red or blue ones are released.  I know that some may think that I am a "bad" person for considering selling my Farmers for 2x or 3x what I paid for them a few years ago, but there is no moral, ethical or other reason not to sell something for its fair market value.  Just my take on things.

That sounds similar to how the stock market works. If you had stock that you knew was going to depreciate significantly in value, you'd obviously want to sell it and get out right away...

I cant bear to sell any of my SAKs, regardless. After losing all but one in a fire, it's paramount that I always have some....a yet to be defined illness I suppose.

True dat.  But I get a good deal of grief on another forum when I defend guys who "flip" knives for profit.  I understand the sentiment against those guys, but I figure than each of us can do with our toys whatever pleases us - use them, hoard them, give them away or sell them.

Sorry to derail.  Farmers rock!

I think there are two types of people when it comes to "flipping" SAK's or any other item's.

Type 1, like many of us here someone may of bought an extra 1 or 2 for spares and then find they can make a profit.  This I find perfectly acceptable.

Type 2, someone who intentionally buys multiple items with the goal of re-selling them at a later date for a profit.

These people I would classify differently to genuine collectors as a collector simply desires to have an item in their collection and theses people treat it as a business and perhaps even artificially raise the going price by hording whatever items they are dealing in.

As for someone "cashing in" before the bottom drops out of the market if they are of the type one genuine collectors or users as we have here I don't see a problem.

Ok, I've run into some trouble getting Amazon.de to accept my bank card and I really would like one of these blue farmers.

Would any of our European members be will to help me out?

If you are please PM me and we can talk without diverting this thread any more.

Thanks.

The shipping was 7.7 Euros, by the way
