Thanks Aloha, you are always so kind.
Since I stopped buying optics and then SAKs and MTs, I was able to buy some other stuff, mainly miniature or toy soldiers. Is there a subforum where I could show them off (real self kings they are) if anyone might be interested?

I'd suggest the break room.  You know we all love each others other hobbies  :tu:.  Nice to know you've acquired some soldiers to add to your collection.  Cant wait to see how your collection is shaping up.

Still alive and kicking, currently on vacation.
I just got a new EDC bag, my first non Victorinox after 16 years. The old, trusty Vic monosling will serve strictly at the beach from now on.
The new one is monosling also and bigger. It opens fully and has some modern details, like a tablet pocket (good for my moleskines), an RFID and two Smartphone pockets. It holds 2 bottles on the outside. Quite versatile.
It comes from. National Geographic, another legendary brand I love since early childhood. I also bought a new bag-in-bag organizer, of better quality. My wife paid for the bag, she gets me one for every 100 I get for her. Fair, isn't it?

What do you think about it? (Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)

As an MTO member I am a geek too, so I made "improvements" to my bag, which became a true EDC, for work and leisure.
Added some extensions on the zippers, a Leatherman carabiner to hang and to secure on , a harness pocket from an older bag (I missed that Victorinox patent), a hook to secure it in the car, to hold it for rebalancing or to avoid theft and to hang heavy stuff when walking (it works!) and a compass (that works too and it is a very geeky touch). I keep all my EDC in the bag, including a Swisschamp XLT, a Nitecore
SRT9, a Nikon Monarch 7 ED 8x30 and/or a Pentax Papilio 6.5x21, a Zeiss 6x18 B*T*, a Belomo 10x, a Seibert Emoskop, a HDD, powerbank and chargers, masks and alcohol pads etc. And it is lighter than my backpack, more flexible (with 3 point harness when cycling) and more dressy.
Now yellow is the new red.

And I finished that, just for fun. I'll make a shooting range on my balcony, it is very long and wide enough.

I have to try 45 degrees ballistic shot in open field. In my balcony I do flat shots with soft materials. If I break a flower pot she'll break my head. 😊

Nice additions to your bag.  Its all about additional functionality and adding personal touches. I've always liked seeing all the fun albeit useful items you carry.

Nice slingshot with terrific picture of you and your Opie.   :like:

Talking about bags...
During lockdown, the only thing to do is have walks.
Luckily, it's something I like! (Cycling works too, but I'm not too keen on that.)

A small annoyance became a true frustration when using my backpack on a weekly basis.

When stopping for a rest, my pack needs to be put down.
It gets dirty on the bottom, and even more when it topples over.

So eventually, I made a paracord loop and clipped a lightweight climbing carabiner through it.
When taking a rest, I sling the 'biner around a tree and catch it again.
The 'biner is weaved through the loop making in hang from the tree.

Clip the pack on the biner.
It's now elevated from the ground and always upright.
I seriously can't do without it anymore :D
I highly recommend adding this cheap, lightweight contraption to every pack!

I've always like carabiners.  The utility of a carabiner goes beyond just climbing.

Well since I'm not feeling too well, I decided to stay indoors today...
But I'll go and grab a few pics at the tree behind the yard now.

So, pictured here is the tool itself:

I have 2 loops, one for wide trees, one for narrow trees.
However, I just noticed that I can form an 8-shape with the large loop, making it perfect for narrow trees.
Hence, the small loop will be removed now.

Sling biner around tree and catch it:

Pull biner through loop:

Pull tight:

Attach pack:

Done!

I'm now thinking about adding a plastic tab that you can find on backpacks to make the loop as small or large as required so the pack is always as high/low from the ground as desired.

Nice. Most trees have lower branches here, so I just hung my bag from there, no need for long paracord. Or I find a rock and put it on the rock. Greece is full of rocks. Actually, Greece is rocks and sea.
Get well soon.

Makes sense.
Mostly large oaks and pine trees here.
Sand everywhere, a large stone can be found, but rocks are rare :)

:like:  What a simple yet terrific solution.  Thank you for the pics.  Some paracord and a carabiner is easy to carry in the pack plus it can serve other purposes as well.   :tu:

:hatsoff:

I just added the slide tab and finished the end with a plastic clasp that's made for that.

Thanks to the slide tab, I can now adjust the size of the loop to correspond with the tree I encountered :D

You could just make a knot at the desired length and untie it after use.

I feel so. I missed pliers for over a year since I exchanged the Spirit for the XLT. There's a lot of redundancy between them. But the Skeletool adds new functionality, with the bit holder.

I like the Skeletool's bit holder.  It offers so much in the way of driving options.  While it doesn't have the largest pliers it is very usable for many things  The knife is also a great option for anything you don't want to use your SAK blade for.

The blade in Swisschamp is very offset, short, two hand opening and not locking. In XLT even more (in XAVT extremely).
I always carry a balanced locking knifeblade, be it a Delica, Buck 110 type Opinel Jardin (most of the times), Gerber Double Take, or this, and I have other options like Okapi, Douk Douk, other Opinels etc.

Some elements of my EDC.
A LED Maglite was easily added. It's insane what you can add to the original Swisschamp leather pouch (and I have 2 different Victorinox SOS kit pouches abs 3 Skinths I try not to use again).

That didn't last for long. I summoned Skinths.
New setup.
The right Skinth goes in the pocket or in my bag. You see, the Mercator jingles hitting my komboloi when they are both in the same pocket. Now I have options.
The left one carries all the rest and stays in the bag, but I can put it instantly on my belt or hang it somewhere. I can carry thus my Swiss card for instant access to the nail fixing tools and a sharpening stone. Nice.
Finally I found a decent way, after all these years) to carry the 3 Victorinox bits that don't fit on the SAK's case.
It's a small container from Vanilla powder. It fits all three precisely and nothing more than the three. I simply trimmed the inner section of the cap to fit.
The best part is that I can easily exchange the XLT with a Spirit or a Charge plus an Alox with scissors. That's what I carried for years, it's tested.
It's a pity I misplaced my Victorinox pencil, because it fits easily in both Skinths.
