Had an Alec Bradley prensado on Saturday. I generally like their cigars but this was barely OK. It only had their signature flavour profile, a bit, in the last third.

Had a Partagas Serie P No.2 yesterday, my current favourite. Solid.

That's disappointing that you got a dud.

I'm generally a fan of both Alec Bradley and Partagas.   :tu:

Alec make a good stick. I don't know if there was an issue with the particular cigar or if they wanted  a different flavour, not to my liking. It burned fine.

Just the way I like them.  I despise flavored cigars.

I also don't really understand the reviewers who say things like, "This cigar has notes of leather, coffee, and chocolate."  To me, tobacco tastes like tobacco, coffee tastes like coffee, chocolate tastes like chocolate, and I don't know what leather tastes like.

some cigars will have a sweet or creamy taste, naturally, and be smooth or rough, with hints of other flavours.

They are very similar to Whisky.

How many flavours you can distinguish or enjoy depends on the individual, what you know, what you like, how many cigars you are smoking  (not enough or, too many in a day). whether you are smoking at a suitable rate, taking time to look for the flavours, whether you keep the smoke in your mouth for a while, exhale through the nose too...

You also have to consider the strength, nicotine, you like

Tobacco flavour is good, if it is smooth. If it is rough then it will not be too pleasant.

I watch some online reviews of cigars and whisky and on many occasions I do not get any of the flavours they get. Different reviewers will get different flavours, especially the more muted ones.

Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua Maestro

Reminds me of Onyx cigars, from decades ago.

Decent flavour, sweet, good burn. A lot of tar for an aged cigar.

Not bad but you can get similar flavour for half the cost

Some people rave about those Aging Room cigars, but the ones I've had I thought were only just OK... :dunno:

They do well in cigar aficionado. Maybe I am just not capable to detect certain special flavours in them...

Also, maybe the blend changes slightly after a cigar gets popular, to satisfy the large demand, so they may not taste as good as the originals.

One cigar I wanted to try was quorum, a cheap but decent looking cigar that is everywhere. Small robusto size

It tasted cheap. The first cm was really cheap and nasty with bitter taste.
After that it became slightly better, with no bitterness and a plain tobacco flavour. Hot smoke.

Maybe bigger sizes will be better but I don't see the point for it as it is not significantly cheaper than better cigars.

Not something I would buy again. Villiger makes much better, machine made, cigars that are cheaper.

Boneshakers are good cigars.

And not as strong as they appear to be, which is a good thing.

blend 15 by  A.J. Fernandez

I am not generally a fan of his own brand products but this was interesting. Very pleasant mild spice, good burn.

Good, if the price is also right

Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 for me today.  It was a decent smoke.  However, I've never been a fan of the square, box pressed shape, as it feel it interferes with cigar burn management.

Yesterday's selection.  Not a bad smoke, but reminded me once again why I'm not really a fan of torpedo shaped cigars (this one came as part of a sampler).  It's just a lot more work to get a decent cut on a torpedo than a regular parejo with my chosen cigar cutting implement (pocket knife).

Today's stick.  Good draw, nice even burn, solid construction, lots of smoke.  Flavor was somewhat pedestrian.

During the past few days I had a partagas P2 (my current favourite) and two Tierra Tropical (Vegas de Santiago) - small and large, solid sticks, good flavour and burn and cheap

RP Edge, Sumatran, best Edge I have had in a long time, closer to the original ones.

Cohiba Siglo V,  really nice smooth spice, generally the bigger Cohibas taste better than the smaller ones.

H. UPMANN MAGNUM 46

Good construction and burn, boring flavour, needs some age

...and 3 years later they have developed a very nice, smooth, spicy flavour 'Definitely worth aging and smoking.

Smoked a few cigars the previous week, Rocky, Upmann, Vegas De Santiago etc, but the most enjoyable/memorable one was the Flor de Oliva Presidente.

I am not keen on the other Oliva brands, I do not dislike them but do not care much for them, but the Flor de Oliva has been a favourite of mine for years, especially in the bigger sizes - really good flavour, smoke and reasonably cheap (I remember when they used to be really cheap, around 2005..)

Smoked several during the past several days.

I enjoyed the El Rey Del Mundo Robusto Larga (not Cuban, but a solid tasty choice), and the NUB (made by Oliva, so there are two Oliva products that I would buy), especially the 560 Nub, which is too big to be a real member of the NUB line., in Habano, sweet at the beginning and strong at the end, as well as the series P, my current favourites.

Really, really bad. This is not a cheap cigar but I had to stop smoking halfway through. Bitter.
Good burn.......

Rocky Patel 20th anniversary Lancero.

Not bad, the first half was a bit boring but the second half was tasty and spicy

Ultimately, every cigar smoker should enjoy them however they wish.  Personally though, I’ve never understood people only smoking a cigar half (or even just a third) of the way, and then discarding the rest.  For one thing, it seems like a waste of good tobacco.  For another, as you experienced with this one, sometimes the best the part of a cigar is in that second half.  I always smoke mine down to the nub, unless I am rudely interrupted.

I am cheap. If I paid  for a whole cigar I am smoking all of it.  It must be really nasty for me not to nub it.
