I had a Villiger Tube Black.
the first Cigars I started smoking, decades ago, were those Villiger rectangular pressed ones, that were decent and cheap.

The Tube, still lower cost, machine made cigars, but not really cheap, were a pleasant surprise.
Yes you can tell they are not premium handmade products but the flavour, burn time and look were quite pleasant.

Went to a Cuban restaurant on Miami Beach with visiting relatives last night and I bought an $11.00 boutique cigar.  It looked good but it turned out to be dry.  The wrapper started to come off about halfway through, and I had a blow out where I was sucking the cold night air through a hole in the side of the cigar instead of a nice warm smoke. The hole was about 2 inches from the lit end so I cut that off and stuffed it in my pipe to smoke it.  :viking: I was determined not to waste any part of an $11.00 cigar, even a poorly made one.   The rest of the cigar turned out to be a pretty good smoke.

Many restaurants and corner shops do not really know how to look after cigars.
Bad or no humidity control, big temperature variations, bright lights, leaving the humidor's door open, not returning cigars after they go off..

My experience has been the same, and I now make it a point not to buy cigars from anyone whose primary business is anything other than selling cigars.

Glad you were still able to enjoy it, Alan!

RoMa Craft Tobac CroMagnon Aquitaine Cranium Gran Toro

A more premium, fashionable cigar.

Good flavour, especially the first 2/3, requires slow smoking. Tastes premium.

Not cheap

Drew Estate Tabak Especial

I did not realise when ordering that this was an infused cigar.

Weird overly sweet chemical taste, really not my thing, I threw away half of it.  Good burn.

More power to those that smoke them but I am not a fan.

Yea, I’m not a fan of flavored cigars either.  I like my tobacco to taste like tobacco.

I tried an AZ cigar, a low, low end brand that is supposedly long filler and hand made.
AZ Special Blend Toro. I know they are cheap, but the burn was bad, the flavour was not there and I just did not like it in any way.

I had an Asylum Schizo Hercule another day and it was again spot-on.  Great burn, great flavour, great value.

Somehow I ran across this while perusing the offerings from Knife Center:

https://www.knifecenter.com/item/XI303MM/XIKAR-Xi3-Cigar-Cutter-Fossil-Mammoth-Ivory

It sure looks nice, but it's spendy. And I have to wonder if a cigar cutter is even necessary, much less the MTo way. (I smoke cheap cigars that might make some of y'awl wretch and heave, so my knowledge is limited.)

Ouch, $400 for a cigar cutter!

I prefer to use a knife myself; whatever I have in my pocket that day will generally do.

My "best" cigar cutter is a Xikar I got in 2006ish and it still cuts perfectly.

I do have a Colibri and an Adorini cutter, that could be considered "branded" but I also have several of the cheap plastic and metal ones that work fine.

I do enjoy the Knifecentre youtube videos.

Doubtless the mammoth ivory drove up the price. I don't know if such a high premium is justified.

I do enjoy the Knifecentre youtube videos.
Me, too. I've watched some from BladeHQ, and stopped when I discovered Knife Center's channel. The guys on BladeHQ's channel try so hard to be entertaining that they annoy me. And their data breach makes me not want to give them my money, anyway.

After some time I smoked a cheap Cusano Churchill Tubo.  This was accompanied by some whisky, but I remember it having a very nice and smooth flavour.

Idk if I ever posted my cutter before I gave it away with al my stogies, but it cut like a pair of scissor yet rather then an open end it was closed and it had three blades that cut like a camera lens, I thought the thing was great I think it even had great warranty on it, and all for like $20! Decided to try a Drew estate Undercrown maduro Flying Pig, from a sampler pack that I got.

These are reasonably expensive cigars, in most countries, especially if you realise that they are tiny.

Burn was spot on, took over an hour so, well packed.

Smooth but bland. I got some mild flavours at the beginning but not much afterwards.

They are trying to copy the Nub, but he Nub is cheaper and way more interesting.

Definitely not worth buying again.

The whole nub thing baffles me.  Why on earth would I (or anyone) want to pay full price for what is basically half a cigar?

Now if their price were proportional to their size, they might be a good short time option.  As it is, however, with their price being comparable to full size cigars, one might as well just buy the full size cigars and only smoke half it that is all one has time for.

I am not a big fun of the NUB price, and generally smoke Churchill/toro size cigars as I am not a regular smoker short on time and in a hurry to get my fix, but I was able to find them cheaply a few years ago and got a sampler box, about 16 of them I think.
You do have only about an inch of smokeable cigar, though they last a while. There are bigger versions too. From Oliva their Flor line is good value (used to be better).
Still, compared to the flying pig, they are a bargain :)

I am not a regular smoker short on time and in a hurry to get my fix

Driving is when I tend to smoke the most.  Any trip that is at least an hour or so usually gives me enough time for a full-size cigar.

But those 30 - 45 minute trips are long enough that I want a smoke but not long enough to completely smoke a regular size cigar.  My go-to has been Punch Bolos, but I’m always on the lookout for other good and cost-effective alternatives to fill this niche.
