Thanks guys!

That's a near complete kit. It's missing another mini box and a Dremel.
The two mini box are for the Dremel tools. Very portable indeed!

That, and the many models between the series with nice features to mix and match (blunt nose, needle nose, both with integral or replaceable cutters; scissors, awl, plethora of screwdrivers, short or long shank phillips SD, blade exchanger,...), ease of disassembly and to work with, the ability to accept tools from other series (MP400, Suspension, Suspension NXT), affordable prices, and quite bulletproof are some of the reasons of why it is such a good mod fodder and one of my favorites.

Is that actually the case?  Without creating a spreadsheet and going all OCD on it, I think it's true  There do seem to be more mixes and matches with Gerber than Leatherman.
I think you're on to something.

I' d like to try out the corkscrew from the 400, but I'm a bit wary as to how to modify the handle, and loosing a knife/file (and the fact that I still don't have the CS!!!)

When I first got a MP600 in 2002... I realized that the only think I wanted differently was needle nose instead of blunt.   Gave the blunt to a friend and bought a needlenose... easy peasy, and I still carry it.

hi everyone!

i just got hold of this new old stock, unopened, undamaged (packaging) pro scout locally yesterday.  there is some yellowing and clouding of the front part probably due to sun exposure while the back part is still clear.

based on the packaging this is between 2005-2011. it took me almost a whole day to get this info established.

this is my first mp600 but not my first gerber as i have a mpt with leather sheath.
now i am struggling to decide whether to open this or keep it as it is a part of my (tiny) collection  ???  ::)

to open or not to open  :dunno:

Congratulations on your find, 3stars1Sun; I think the blunt nose with integrated cutters pliers head is one of best from all of the mt's, second to the Surge/Super Tool 300 ones. As if to open or not, it's your call, pal; I believe tools are meant to be used so, I'd open them. Also, looking that the blister package is not pristine/A-1, that would affect its "collector's value" and it looks that it is still found rather inexpensive.
Do as you think will bring you the most enjoyment! Undeniable that it is a  :multi: that I  :like: very much so, happy tooling! :tu:

If you intend to use it then open it, but if it is only for your collection then leave it in the packaging.

gracias amigo  ;) i only have a lm charge tti as the other unopened mt in my possession so it looks like i will have to free this mp600 from it's 'cage'  :D

:iagree: Open it! It is a tool, it is meant to be used  :tu:

it is meant to be used :salute:
exactly the same answer i got when i posted the same question of  'to use or not to use' a pristine vintage meerschaum pipe that i scored.
i guess my posting the question really exposes me as a greenhorn  :D

If you intend to use it then open it, but if it is only for your collection then leave it in the packaging.

no urgency but it may eventually be 'freed'. i'm very curious of the looseness associated with mp600s as i have mostly lm's and a few swisstools. the mods i've seen in the other threads here also means i may need to start building up my list with a few more mp600s so i can swap parts around  :D

Congratulations on your newest Gerber acquisition! Lovely combination: newer logo/ Pro Scout chassis with blunt nosed-integrated cutter head; if only it would come like that from factory!!!   :like:  :gimme:

Found it in a toolbox below some old tools at my parents house. Had the old handles of course, but i like the Pro Scout toolset better, so i switched plier heads.

It has been a while since I've used an MP, and today I took out one of my Basic models to help with the finishing of the lid for the JD's tank. Here it is cutting the finishing strips for the glass lid. :tu:

It also helped with the making of the scraper, by cutting the dowel to size and the pvc backboard for the scrubbing pads (I'm I frugal!?; yep!)
