Real multitool use is when you improvise to get the job done, and the multitool does the job without skipping a beat!  :like:

 :iagree:

It's more about a versatile tool than a dedicated one.

Happy Sunday MT.O'ers! :salute:
Today's carry. Still in awe as to how a 20+ years mt design can be so versatile, rugged, functional, and cheap!  :like:

I never sent my Gerbers in for warranty service. However, I did go ahead and make the plier head swap. I just filed the notch in the cutters down so they operate somewhat smoother when opening and closing the jaws. So now my MP600 is a blunty with conventional cutters, the saw, file, and scissors are from a Diesel, and the serrated blade, drivers, and openers are from the base MP600. I really love this tool platform. It's a great operational tool. Simple but effective. Just wish Gerber would sell individual implements so I didn't have to Ebay entire tools looking for the parts I want. Anyways, I would post a picture to show it off, but third party hosting is tedious and for some reason the pics are "too big" to just upload as an attachment. So, just use your imagination.  :D

Possible changes going forward - I don't love the small driver so I might look into modding it into an awl/random pokey implement or just secure an awl from a compatible donor. Also, I don't really ever use saws on multitools, so I may look into replacing it with something else. Any suggestions?

Nice work, rdub. I'd modify the small driver as you explained, and be done or, you might try to mill an awl from a Suspension NXT to the thickness of the MP tools ( as per my measurements, it is somewhat thicker than the MP's lanyard ring) and keep the driver.
May I suggest downloading a free app such as Photo Resizer?; it's pretty easy to use!
Good luck on your modd'ing!  :tu:

Yes please, will be great to see some MP mods!  :iagree:
They’re too rare to find in my country to cannibalize, and ave shipping costs of $30-40 make Bay importation impractical. Makes my collection of three all the more special.

Rdub934, that's one wonderfully, tasteful mod you've got there!!! Loving that you were able to use  an early blunt nose (integrated cutters) pliers head and, are the scissors and saw from a Diesel!?! I'd guess that you have now a very functional and useful tool. Kudos to you, Sir!

OT- Please excuse me if I'm out of place but, are you planning on doing something with the "released" pliers head?

I've got them in the other chassis. Think I will rebuild that one and give to one of my kids.

Here's my MP600. This is the one that replaced all my previous MTs for daily carry. I started with a LM PST, then it was a LM Supertool and finally a Victorinox Spirit. I carried one of these for the better part of twenty years in working rail. I bought that PST sometime in the late 80s and replaced that with the Supertool because it had way better ergonomics. The Spirit just felt more comfortable. The Gerber is beefier and feels stronger that the others. That's an original Nite Ize Pock Its holster. It's pretty beat up but still working. Since retirement it spends most of the time in the glove box.

Thank you. The only time I feel I wish I was still working is so I can carry all the cool stuff.

Well, you can still carry the neat stuff; there will always be "someone in need", or "chores" around the house like, taking a fan apart or changing a wall switch plate ( just to use the tools)!!!

There's always that.    Can I also wear my hard hat and safety vest? On second thought, that would probably scare the heck out of my wife.

Well, today I was able to release from its duty my homemade C-clip; the replacement just arrived, had its belly polished and, had occupied its rightful place. My OCD can now be at ease!

So you polished the bottom of the clip to make it slide better ?

Hello everybody

I ask for admission to the MP600 owners' club I currently have 3.

The tool with the selfmade clip is my favorite. However, I don't like the shape of the blades. So I exchanged the older model.
I also filed jigsaw blades myself and built a bit holder

Stay safe folks

Nice kit you've got there, MTSebastian; liking the radiused needle nose tip A LOT! :like:
Kudos on your clip and bit holder, as I'm sure they make the tool more functional for you. :tu:

Edit- Oh, and welcome to The Club! :multi:
