Some years ago, while visiting a leather goods shop in northern Mexico, I traded a new Explorer SAK plus $15 dollars) for a new Ranger with carved stainless steel scales. I have never carried it as it weighs a lot. In retrospect I wish I had covered the difference in cost (about $90 dollars at the time) to acquire the one (a Climber, I think) that had similar scales but carved in silver. I understand some silversmiths in central Mexico were doing these scales for the shop, albeit in very limited numbers.
