Flashlight Friday! I am carrying my new EDC. The Thrunite Archer Pro S. I really like this light. I think it is hands down the best value for money EDC light I have come across. The only thing I would change about it would be adding a clicky switch instead of the hard one, making turbo the first mode (not requiring a double click), and momentary on/off. For the 20 dollars i bought it for however, it is a wonderful EDC light. It has a lot of what I really want. Tailswitch, deep carry clip with a J hook for your hat, moonlight mode, turbo mode, and different brightnesses in between. So far, battery life and reliability has been better than my Microstream. My Macrostream gave out on me a long time ago and my Microstream is getting a little finnicky and the battery doesn’t really last well. We will see how this one holds up to the test of time.

Hard switch? I'm not terribly well-versed in flashlights, so I could use an explanation. And I sure do :like: the yellow EvoGrip scales!

I firmly that a flashlight powered by alkaline batteries (such as the Streamlight Stylus Pro in the middle) is a key component of every emergency preparedness kit and survivalist bag. That's especially true if you live in an area that's susceptible to power outages. Alkaline batteries can be changed quickly and allow you to use reduced power for devices whose batteries cannot be quickly swapped. However, the little keychain lights like the Lumintop Nano Frog (at left) and Olight I1R2-EOS are hard to beat for typical everyday use.

Thanks!!

I think in this case a picture explains it better. It’s not rubber, its hard material.

I got the little pink warning notice when I decided to post on this thread.  Seems like it is unpoopular.  Lots of flashlight lovers here, but not so many posts lately.  This is a Gerber with a Buck ah... Rough Rider canoe.  Taken by flashlight illumination.  Best wishes.  G

I have a handful of decent quality flashlights.  I appreciate them, and use them regularly if not daily.  If I find something objectively better than what I have, then I’ll upgrade, but I’m not getting new flashlights very often in the scheme of things, and I tend not to rotate them.

Curiously there is an actual limit to what one needs

I have so many flashlights now it's kind of silly.  I fell in love with Olights and have a number (a LARGE number) and while they're mostly really good, there's been a dud or two.  I'm at the point where I don't really feel I have a need for more.

Like you, I use them daily.  I have a number of i5T/i3T/i5R/i3R around and they're great to leave around the house.  Super convenient, retain a charge forever and the light throw is fantastic.  I replaced the i1R on my keychain with a Fenix, but they're arguably the same light to me.  I've had an i3R sitting on the desktop for 2+ years without charging, just checked, it's fine.

Outside of the "collector" aspect, I see nothing in my immediate future.

Seems ironic to me that here where there is no one I imagine with but a few blades and tools that the lights are looked at any differently?

I can usually get by during my day working without a dedicated knife and by using regular tools that I also carry all day long but I can not think of a single day where I dont use a light  over and over and over.
The older I get the more I need extra light too!!
