Craftsman 4 Way Pocket Screwdriver.
on: June 12, 2014, 04:36:22 PM

Does anyone carry one of the Craftsman 4 Way Pocket Screwdrivers? I saw one online and thought that paired along with a small utility knife would a great minimal edc.
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

I've carried one every day for the past 20+ years.  Great inexpensive screwdriver that is easily replaceable if you have to do something that might harm it.  Everyone should have one.

I have a couple somewhere, and carried one for a while.  For the size and price, they are a solid bit of kit.  However, I don't carry one any longer because I always have a SAK and found the Sears 4-way redundant.

I have one; it's on my backup keyring.  I used to carry it when I worked at the airport; the cowlings of my schools airplane was attached with camloc fasteners, so preflight inspections required a big honkin' flat blade.  A quarter worked well, but I found I wouldn't spend the Craftsman thing.

It made a lot of noise on my keys, and I don't need it anymore, so it's on my backup keys.

I picked one up the other day at Sears and will try it out. I was playing around with some screws on a light cover in my kitchen and it was pretty comfortable for what it is.

I've have two, one on my main key ring, and another on key ring with assorted, small back up gear, such as a Classic, P-38, Fenix E01, and something else, in a box under the bed. I like them quite a bit, and much better than any other one piece tool I've owned.

Since my three year old has developed the habit of locking the door of whatever room he's in, the one on my main key ring is frequently pressed into service to unlock doors. Every single interior door in my house can be unlocked with a slotted driver. And while carrying a SAK makes carrying the 4-way driver redundant, I also don't always carry a SAK.

Its other main purpose is acting as a metal thumbnail, primarily for the tabs on soda cans.
