New approach to bit storage, fairly easy
on: May 07, 2025, 02:42:54 AM
I don't know if im the first person to post about this or do this (add pocketclip to rubber driver bit strip orgnzr + add verticle bit storage for longer bits) but I've had this idea for awhile. This is my first attempt & not the most cosmetic mod I've done.  The pocketclip micro bolts are a little too long & micro zipties arent the most elegent fasteners but I think this will work as a proof of concept at least & function the way I want it too, I'll find out.  **See pics. - Also that is my newest gadget swivel head rachet bit driver: Titan Nano, its got great reviews & seems like a winner so far for edc
Note: I may be posting some other edc bit storage ideas soon.
*Edit*  I actually modded two rubber bit strip organizers but only one has extra verticle storage so far, & the pocket clips are different colors as pictured.

That's a slick bitholder!!  Is it modded or can it be ordered like that?  If so where?
Also that Titan Nano has a more expensive version with a 1/4" driver slot in the stubby handle, I forgot that I can just get a 1" or 2" long magnetic allen/hex bit 1/4" size & attach to Surge or Surge clone extension bit & have basically a half price Leatherman style rachet  adapter DOH!!!!  So i ordered a backup with the driver slot in the handle.

I've seen some bit holders with pocket clips, but they are not that common. Vessel puts belt loops on their bit holders. The 511 mini ratchet holder also holds bits.
Some have just a clip. This looks nice:

I've seen this holder come with a ratchet too, but I can't remember the brand right now, but it's the same sandwich ratchet as the Mulwark, Neiko, Kaifnt etc.

Also I forgot to add one cool thing about the Titan Nano rachet driver is it swivels from regular rachet style to a racheting straight driver- so once you get a fastener loose in max leverage rachet mode you can remove it easier & faster by swiveling tool handle to straight driver rachet mode. No I do Not work for Titan lol

My current EDC while doing a big damily property project.  The Sharpie will have 1" 3m blue tape & narrow  Gorilla duct tape soon.  Somedays there's also a 4" Knipex Cobra with modded pocket clip in my EDC.  See pic- i added a cheap Amazon mini flashlight pocketclip to my Titan Nano rachet driver.  Almost all my mods are all about pocket clips, not too fancy.

Oh and also a Thrunite T1S V2 mini flashlight in my EDC- gotta  have the reversable pocket clip to put on my baseball cap!   My Olight Baton 4s keep growing legs & vanishing- - what a disgrace if thieves took them.  Don't mess with a man's Olight!   Or Thrunite!

Thanks!  My advice is spend a little extra on Amazon and get the Nano bit driver rachet with the bit slot in the handle-  im thinking with a 1 or 2 inch magnetic hex allen bit (1/4" size)  in the Nano handle you could then add a bit adapter 1/4" drive socket onto the bit then insert regular 1/4 drive rachet extensions to bit adapter socket to increase leverage on the Nano!  (could probably break the tool with too much leverage though).  There's the other possibilities too I mentioned on this thread.  Mine is showing up soon ill test out my ideas.  I did try a 1/4" size allen bit on my current cheaper Nano and it fits snug on either end of the 1/4" size (and drive) allen bit.

Nice idea! Maybe you could sacrifice one bit, drill two holes through it and use it in the upper slot where the pocket clip gets attached so that screws wouldn't squish the bit slot?

Cool idea-  I would want a dremel style drill press for that & one heck of a good drill bit for that .  I dont have the press or a superb****in metal cutting drill bit that small.  I have a good Ryobi HD dremel that is on a flex cable attached to the powerbase- as far as I know that style dremel tool (aka rotary tool)  does Not fit a dremel style drill press (aka Dremel press?).  There might be some rare hardware that fits snug in a bit slot easier to drill.

One possible tip to make drilling the flexible rubber bit holder strip less ackward: Don't drill it.  Im thinking put a 1/4" wooden dowel in the bit slot where the pocket clip holes will go then use a real small leather hole punch or suitable hole punch- the kind you hit with hammer. So the metal hole punch goes through the rubber & into the wooden dowel a little. Just mark both sides of the bit slot so both holes line up after you punch them.  Ill try that on the next one. There are mini hole bits for drills to use on fabrics and leather.  The regular drill bit does not leave a clean hole & you have to force the mini bolts through the rubber it's a hassle.
