I just grip the blade in soft jaws in a vice so only the tang sticks out then gently bend the tang with some pliers. I do worry about them snapping but the Vic steel is quite ductile.
Finished my Woodsman project...
Thats just nice! and I really like the black and brass of the one above
This is my custom TI explorer made by Syph and further customized by me. I love this tool and I have carried and used it daily since I got it almost 6 months ago despite having a pretty decent collection of SAKs available to use.

What did you use to dye the plastic parts? And did you take the whole thing apart for that?
Great place to start Jon - nice mod. Given the success of your first try are you tempted to do anything else?
Yeah I definitely want to try something else, not sure what yet, preferably something else easy and cheapish. A compact with the Phillips mod looks like it would be pretty useful too. Eventually I'd like to do something like a Huntsman but with pliers instead of scissors if that's even possible?
It's very possible. If you get hold of a Champ or a Swisschamp you can remove the layers you don't want and re-peen it using the same pins. Quite an easy process (as long as you don't screw up and/or lose the bushings) ask me how I know.
Just finished this mod; A Passenger with in line awl instead of small blade:
Cheers T-Sizzle. On the back is a corkscrew and another awl
