Confused about this model
« on: June 26, 2014, 06:13:09 AM »
recently bought this from sigsal in ebay.  The tool set is the same as the Scout (www.sakwiki.com). But this one doesn't have the key ring.  In the canadian catalog reference by sakwiki, the scout1 or scout2 in the photos clearly show a key ring.  this one doesn't have it.

what model do you think this is? thanks!

Never heard of the Scout, can't find it on SAKWiki either, but I'd say it's a Camper...

As far as I know, SAK's have not been named consistently through the years, so it could just be that.

Same link under "Identifiers". 3.3611 Victorinox AN: Economy version, red Cellidor scales, no Camping imprint, no toothpick or tweezers; referred to as "Scout 1" in 1980 Canadian catalogue.

'Scout' was a Canadian name for the 'Camper' at one time. At one time the Australians called it the 'Picknicker' (so much for name consistency). The 'Camper was produced with both plain and 'Camping' marked handles. All my photos show a keyring, but yours might be a discount version. Alternately the ring might have been removed by a user.

Here are 2 not too good pics of what 1980 Canadian Catalog called "Scout I."

Yes, it comes w/a saw. I had difficulty pulling it up w/o cutting myself on the other tools. I really forgot but I'm reluctant to admit that.
