Wild.  My son would lose the parts though.  :D

At first I thought it was going to be lego videos.  Theres and android app I put on my sons tablet that its basically a front end for lego videos, he really likes that one.

Ok, than I am in the catagorie to avoid this thread...

For me the fun of LEGO was to build your imagination, to use bricks for the things furthest from their original intention (Tank tracks out of door hinges? No problemo, senor!)

So the joy was more the collecting and digging into the big box of Legos than to build 'a set' and move on to the next box - I once built a helicopter with tiger strip camo (electrical tape) from parts of medieval sets (lances -> rockets, torch-flames as exhausts), submarines (the cockpit, octagonal pipes), Lego Technik gears and rods, pilots from an Astronaut set, side windows from a house set my father got 30 years ago, etc.

And I would loose this ability to mix if I would rent LEGO for my (future) kids. I would loose the creative freedom that makes LEGO unique!

I wonder how they check the returned kits for missing pieces
That would be a sucky job  :ahhh
Great idea , being able to buy the kit if you like it is a brilliant idea.
I hope it is a success  8)

I would guess by weight. And if the weight is off too much, then the sucky job takes over ;)

Yes, I agree, it's the best part of Lego. But for example I could see a group of (adult) Star Wars fans wanting to do a build party with the Super Star Destroyer, but not actually want to pay for it or have a place to store it. I have a few new sets that were built according to the plans and probably will never be taken apart like:
