Well, this was some kind of record but I sometimes think about these things.
With information so easily accesible always, a lot of people seem to stop thinking first and forget how to solve problems or use simple logic.
This is why our multitools may change in the future and have more idiot proof tools.
A typical example is the clam shell package cutter, like on Gerber Dime and Mini champ (I now, not intended use). Its safe for people not used to knifes or to pre-think things and there is less risk of damaging the stuff inside.
I actually think thats a quite good implement that has evolved with a new kind of packaging and less gifted users.

My mantra is most people can think one level of consequences. Really smart people can do a few more, but not many (on cause of the combinatorial explosion of possibilities).
This person obviously found opening a back mounted tool way outside their comfort zone, so open tool, apply, get wine, simply became too complex.

1) Amazon currently has promotional photos up right now for several SAK's in which the can opener is being used in a comically wrong way. I'd provide a link but I'm on my phone.
2) I was once watching some morning show and five servicemen, one from each branch, were guests, and each was given a SAK and told that whoever opened a can first with it won some prize, I don't remember what. It was so sad: not one of them knew to use the can opener. They were bashing the cans, smacking them with the closed knife, in general acting like apes. The one who won had a badly bleeding hand by the time he was done.

Success- normal humans need not apply.
I'm glad to be here, with the toolgeeks.
