Wave leather sheath confusion.
on: October 13, 2014, 01:00:13 AM
Hi guys. Just got a new leatherman Wave in the post that is meant to be a gift to a friend.
The tool is new and tight. But it didn't arrive in the blister pack or box, just packed in envelope.
And I don't know what to think about the sheath. It's completely oversized and looks like one from the surge! I never had a full size leatherman with leather sheath, only nylon ones that have quite a good fit.

Would you mind taking a quick look and tell me if its normal? Thank you.

Looks oversized (Surge, ST300) to me. I have the same sheath that fits the Wave and it's a much tighter fit.

How odd, mine had a snug fit.  Looks a little different...

When I bought my Wave, that large size holster is what came with it.  If the holster is worn horizontally, the tool can work itself out (I seem to remember reading threads discussing this issue).  I also have a camo Fuse that came in a camo nylon holster;  The holster was the same (large) size that my Surge came in, so the Fuse "flops around" (but it won't fall out due to the Velcro closure).

I just ordered the crunch leather sheath, it fits the wave perfectly. It was only $6 on amazon

That's interesting. I just tried this on mine and there's a bit of a play in all directions.

Why haven't you gone with the 4" Wave leather sheath instead? Was it the price?

BTW, welcome to the forum.

Yeah for 6 bucks it was pretty much a no brainer. If my wave didn't fit the way I wanted eventually I would buy something that did
