So many different colours ..... many available through various dealers ......

But ....... Are they all manufactured by Victorinox?  ???

ie Vic manufactures the different scale colours to the dealers' spec/request - and then they are then distributed via the dealers?
..... Or do other organisations actually make the scales - Well the colours on the scales  ???

.... I am assuming Vic always makes and assembles the base knife and scales, rivets etc etc

Interesting question! I'd always understood that they were made by Victorinox for the dealers, but I don't actually know that's the case, so it would be good to hear from someone in the know! :tu:

My sense from reading is that when they are a Victorinox authorized dealer, Victorinox will make it in color for them and stamp it with their company logo.

One circumstantial bit of evidence is in my recent search for a burgundy alox was finding that Lorenzi is an authorized Vic dealer and featured on the Vic website.  I would think that Vic would want control over the product and make it themselves, and have them sold by authorized dealers (not modders)

The Farmer X is going to be my first splash into the Alox world. I'm still new to SAK collecting so this will be my first Alox model.  One question I had for you experts, does the Alox scratch easily in pockets with keys?  I know if I buy a new cellidor model and put it in my pocket with my keys, by the end of the day it's all scratched and matte looking.  I know alox is more durable, but after a couple weeks does it start to show wear or do they stay pretty resistant to key scratches?  I only ask because I do not want to scratch up my Farmer X after paying what I did for it.

Some people like worn alox but if you don´t you best get a pocket sleeve to carry it in.

PS on silver alox the wear is hardly visible.
