I don't care that this knife is scuffed up around the edges. I love the look of the red Alox with the old cross. And I love the saw.

The scuffs give it a nice used character. I prefer the look of the OC as well. Beautiful knife!

I’m sticking tight to the Timberbeast (Electrician Plus X). Parts are on the way to assemble a Timberbeast MK2, featuring a cooler mix of vintage components.

I'm not sure this is the place for my curiousness, but what is the big appeal of Alox? With classic scales, you are able to have nice designs (Like Classic LD), you can have tweezers, a toothpick and if it scratches, you can polish it out fairly easilly. Alox looks very nice, but you lose the previous advantages.

Losing the scale tools is a valid point. But the Alox scales function as liners, too. Alox models are slimmer than their Cellidor equivalents. The lack of liners makes them better suited for dirty work (fewer places for detritus to build up). And the 93mm models have more stout blades and cap lifters...plus the excellent inline awl.

Lol, my grandmother had a wall of colors, my grandfather made it for her using a special wood board and nails to hang up all the bobbins for her to match anything to..

I did a (small, 5x5 nails) nailed board too for sewing thread bobbins, but dust loves that... So now bobbins are in closed boxes
Embroidery skeins are put on these small cardboard pieces,  then stored into 4 boxes that take about 150 of them each: the battle was lost for me even before it started  :D

I don’t ever know what happened, all I know was she was a professional seamstress, she did just about any job for anybody, she had her own little room and that bed of nail was like 25 x 25 and it was FULL, it was like a wave of colors, I think my grandfather made her one that was like 15 x 15 but she outgrew it with colors so he had to make her another which quickly got filled, cause she was storing more in her drawers! Me I do what you said just keep them in a container,, my mother gave me a simple sewing machine for when I left for college with all the basics, because I used to sit and watch my grandmother cause she would babysit me, but here’s what she made me for my graduation, yeah that’s me at 18, it’s a signature quilt, that things got a LOT of milage on it, (no not that type) if you look carefully at it you’ll notice it has writing in the boxes, she shipped it to a lot of friends a family along with a list and a special marker, when whoever got it they wrote a little quote and signed it, then mailed it to whoever was next on the list, and then next, until it got back to my grandmother, then everyone who was nearby just drove over and signed it, or whoever I made friends with and was around signed it, was a great little idea, of course it got stashed in a box and lost so who knows what happened to it?
