Dumb question about Alox classics..... I know pretty much every modern Alox knife has the nifty engraving area on the back scale that I'll probably never have anything done to. I just realized that on my classic silver SD Alox that the engraving section has "VICTORINOX" engraved in it already. Is that the way they are all manufactured? Every picture I find of a classic alox online only shows the front scale, so one is left to wonder..... :dunno:

I've not seen that on the alox classic, but it's on most of the alox minichamps.  Maybe Vic has switched to that for all 58mm alox.

All my alox classics have a blank engraving plate, but the alox minichamp had the victorinox engraving.

Just been gifted this one today. I have to get on the wiki as I haven’t got a clue what model it is. I do know it’s my new favourite though.

Now that's very

 :like:

I love that worn alox look!

I believe that would be a Pioneer Settler, though an older version with the clip point small blade.

Actually, back then it probably just had a numerical model designation with no name, I think

EDIT: here is an old Alox catalog page from the wiki.  Looks like it could have been the model 2205 (with an engraving panel).

EDIT 2: Well, this one shows model 0.8050.20  :dunno:

EDIT 3: OK, based on this post, I think the 2205 is the US model number and the 0.8050.20 would be the rest of the world.  Also, that post indicates that a .22 at the end is blue alox, so your knife would have probably been an 0.8050.22 originally, though most people would probably just retroactively call it a pioneer settler. I think...  :D

There is just something about Alox SAKs that is impossible to resist for so many of us!  Add color and the attraction multiplies!

Here is my newest addition, an OD Cadet SE:

I agree!  I've got blue for the Cadet, Pioneer & Pioneer X--love that color!

A friend of mine got the newly released 64 1/2 (65) red mustang and he and I took a trip to Arizona to see some of our classmates.  It looks like the Mustang will be Ford's last car as it switches to SUV/Trucks exclusively except for the venerable Mustang.

I think I have a couple with advertising on them. And my two Alox Nespresso are advertising ones. I would prefer none on the knives, but will live with it. Now when it comes to my mechanical pencils no. I don’t know why but on them it bugs me. Go figure.
