Custom SAK Style Multi-Tool / Folder
on: August 26, 2014, 01:05:25 AM
Does anyone know of knife makers who specialize in custom SAK style multi-tools / folders?

I'm not talking customized Victorinox or Wenger. I'm talking about one-off custom piece.

I have an idea for a slim folder with just a few tools. Was hoping that there were some out there. So far the only maker I've come across was Richard Rogers.

Thanks!

I checked out that fancy Richard Rogers one... only $9500.

Looks amazing though!

Yeah, a pretty unbelievable knife. Certainly too rich for my blood.

Mr. Syph, I know we've discussed the backside philips a couple of times. I don't mean to put-down your work in any way. I think your pieces are really fantastic. Just trying to figure out how to maintain a slim design that includes a philips (along with the cap-lifter and main blade) in a 93mm Alox.

An idea from a non-moder. Wenger offered a flat top-side phillips on some of its 85mms. Have no idea if it could be grafted into a 93mm alox, but I'll toss out the suggestion for consideration. If not 93mm, maybe an 84mm alox.

That Rogers is pretty incredible. Also pretty pricey. :o

Making new scales (from whatever material you wanted (I've made aluminium, stainless and G10, and others have done copper and titanium for example) for a 91mm knife would probably be easier than putting backside tools on the 93mm frame.  Then build yourself a 91mm Alox Apprentice. :tu:
