this is a bottle opener i got for my bdaymade from an old shimano bike chain , not sure what the blue bit is though(Image removed from quote.)
I had a set of Hayes hydraulics on my old voodoo. A little heavier but you WILL stop on a dime. Brake pad wear is minimum and it takes very little break in.I hear Magura are good too. V brakes are still the most cost effective -weight saving way to go
im going to buy a new bike at the end of the month and ive not a clue what to go for! part of me wants a road bike and the other half wants a mountain bike - i have a feeling ill eventually end up with both but i want decent ones going to spend about £650 maybe more http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_789253_langId_-1_categoryId_165710 http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_777825_langId_-1_categoryId_165499like that ^ but not really sure what its purpose is though
ive been talking to the man in my local bike shop he reckons he can get me a full carbon racer or a carbon and alloy racer with better spec parts for under £700 as the new stocks coming in and they sell the old stuff off cheapgetting some to look at monday but it will most likely either be a forme or a modaboth look good and are bikes from uk firms

I just saw this thread. I would post a pic of my old one but....it's an old single speed bmx supergoose.
are there any advantages of having a fixed speed bike?

I would post a pic of my old one but....it's an old single speed bmx supergoose. pics please i raced bmx from 1979 till 2 years ago,i raced in the oldschool class on a old robinson, ive had many old bmx's like skyway TA and PK ripper, sadly due to too many injuries and getting old i had to retire at 38 , still love bmx's though
Quote from: ryan1835 on July 24, 2011, 11:32:04 AMare there any advantages of having a fixed speed bike?Other than being easier to maintain, not really I'd steer clear of carbon fibre too, and go for a decent 520-521 steel frame if possible Dawes do a bloody good range of bikes, that'll last you a lifetime, as would Konahttp://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m1b1s21p0&tbv=DAWES_BIKES_Touring,_Audax_&_Sportivehttp://www.dawescycles.com/c-104-2011-bikes.aspxhttp://www.konaworld.uk.com/
Fragility mainly A mate of mine had a Chris Boardman Hybrid, and he cracked the forks when he got cut up by a car (there's a shocker!) and had to take to the kerb Steel offers the comfort of CF Yes it's heavier, but it can take a pounding that would snap carbon fibre like a twig, and stress even aluminium
been offered this bike for £900 with shimano shoes that are normally £80 and some clip in pedals that are around £40http://www.formebikes.co.uk/bikes/road/vitesse.phpbike normally retails for £1k - £1050 seems pretty good to me or this for £810 without pedals/shoes http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/bikes/road/product/review-moda-rubato-11-43696/
