MUT Hard Case?
on: September 16, 2012, 10:21:25 PM
First time long time….

Prior to purchasing my LM MUT, I came across a picture of a molded hard case for it.  Pretty sure it was limited availability through an Asian supplier.  Anyone have this pic and link info?

I'm positive it pales in comparison to the supplied sheath but curiosity is killing me.

Great info on the forum!  Still digging around in order to get more acquainted.

I'm not sure but this may interest you. It is a kydex holster for the Leatherman MUT. I saw it on eBay and jumped on it last month and I'm waiting on it to arrive. They are custom made and only manufactured when ordered. I keep my eye on these and the seller occasionally puts it up for sale. You can also contact the seller to see if/ when they will be sold again I guess. I hope this helps.

I wonder how a kydex rig would work with a MUT.  I may have to contact Eric at On Scene and see if he'll put something together for me.

I'll post as soon as I get mine. The seller states in the details that it was used by the Fed Spec Ops guys and that it uses the Tek-Lok for retention to a belt or molle system. Anyone have experience with the Tek-Lok product? I'm hoping to have good experience with it so it can replace my Mophie JuicePack Pro holster clip but that subject will be in a different thread I guess.  :tu:

I'm not a fan of Tek Lock since they are pretty bulky.  I really don't carry anything with one because I just find it too much of a pain in the butt, but I know a lot of people love them.

Thanks for the replies everyone!!  This is it.  I too seem to recall reading that others had no luck getting a response from these guys.

Here are the pics (thanks to snag it)

When you do somehow get hold of one, let us know. I am still interested in one. Would be perfect on my duty belt!

Will do :)  I really like the included sheath though.  This would look a little flashy in my duty uniform for work wear.  I am concerned on the retainability in this and the one listed above.

The one I listed is level II retention in that you would need to press the button to release it like a serpa holster.

Try lcggear.com and see if that is the one you mean.

Can you actually buy any gear from that site? Or is it just some kind of photo blog or some such?

Yes agreed. Some of their flashlight holsters look ideal too. Definite shame.

Due to demand we are making two different Kydex sheaths for the Leatherman EOD MUT which also fits the standard MUT.

I have one from a different seller that is formed to fit a wave. Not trying to give a plug for the seller or anything, but his wife recently lost her battle with cancer, and he told me that he has plans to make more sheaths for more multitools as soon as he is able to acquire them to make molds of. He also does knife sheaths too I think.

The one thing that worries me is carrying it on my waist, don't want Negative interest from law enforcement suspecting it's a weapon holster and not concealed.

I just stumbled over this thread and must say, the lcggear site, shop or not, does show some nice inspiration.
I have a few sheets of Kydex and have been wondering how easy/hard oit is to work with.
