I thought about cleaning it up since it would make a fun little project, but then decided that would be somewhat sacrilegious. The whole point is that it was made by hand in some shop by some old Japanese dude, that's where all the knife's character comes from. "Fixing" it would almost seem to ruin it. Kinda like buying antique furniture then restoring it to perfect condition: defeats the purpose.

I tried to carry it. The blade retention is not good, definitely not for loose in pocket carry. I did tap the pivot rivet to tighten it up and it works, but then it's impossible to open one handed. It's a neat little folder, and if I live in UK (with apologies to our resident Brits

) I'll work with it. However while we still have the freedom to carry more scary knives, I'll enjoy those while I can.

I'll try it again some other time.

Mine is actually tight enough to carry in my pocket with no issue because the blade rests agains one side of the handle lol. No it can't be opened one handed (I could easile loosen it if I wanted) but I see it as more akin to a slipjoint anyway so 2 hand open is fine. I have no intention of ever using it, its the first shelfqueen I've ever bought because I think its such a cool unique item. Knowing that the kife may die with its creator makes it kinda special I think. Yes its crude, but in the same way that real handmade furniture is flawed, it somehow makes it better.

I sewn a vertical divider in my pants back pocket so it has some place to rest against, now it's back in EDC again, haven't had any chance to use it though.
