Victorinox 91mm Model Relationship Diagram
on: November 28, 2014, 07:41:01 PM
Hi all,

I would like to share with you some diagram, which I've called a "Evolution of 91-mm SAK's".
Short introduction: I collect SAKs almost three years, and I remember as at beginning it was very hard to keep in mind all differencies between similar models of SAKs, - for instance, - what a difference between Hiker and Camper?

In order to help myself and (probably) some other collectors, I've created this "family tree" :)

This diagram displays all well-known 91-mm models (except some rare\unusual ones) and relations between them.
There are two "start-points" - Spartan and Compact, the rest represents as combinations of these 2 models and additional tools.
I've tried to make this diagram clear and simple, so there are no so much relations between knives, - only minimalistic ones.

Anyway, I think will be better to review this diagram than trying understand me  :D
Maybe, this diagram will be usefull for people, who likes SAKs. If you have any comments or suggestions - please let me know!
Thanks for your attention!

P.S. Original (uncompressed) image in bigger resolution is available in my blog (I'm not sure that can attach here a big file).

Ive thought about doing something like that before too.  Something like that with pics of each SAK would make an awesome wall poster.  It would help my wife understand why I need so many too though!
PM me or email sakmodder [at] gmail . com if you are looking for custom SAK work.

Syph, you should do one for Alox, and include your versions. With pictures.

Exactly! The same thoughts..

P.S. Initially I've decided to use SAK's photos in this diagram, but in the middle of process I understood that result will be just a giant and very complicated, so I decline this idea.
Also I thought that it will be good to combine both series: 91-mm and 84-mm in one picture ('cause there are a lot of same models, which have only one difference - size), but again - seems such diagram will be too difficult for understanding. Probably later I'll create separate one, dedicated for 84-mm models only.. (If nobody will create it earlier :)

Just found this in my bookmarks.

And discovered I never replied at the time - So giving this a bump now to say thanks to LeaF for this great and fascinating piece of work. I hope you are still around. And also promoting it to everyone else.

The blog link above does not work - But the blog is still there - So you can go to the home page from the error - and still get the higher density picture.

One wee comment - I would call this more of a 91mm Model Relationships diagram as opposed to Evolution - Minor point!!

Enjoy  :tu:  :D

Yeah - It's great :tu:

Link to LeaF's blog added to first post

LeaF - Would you like the thread to be renamed to be something like "Victorinox 91mm SAK relationships" ? - To match the blog page and the 84mm diagram?
