Another downside to my Pentax system is that I only have 1 external flash, and it has a big issue.  The Pentax AF-360 PGZ external flash does not rotate on its axis, meaning the flash head is alwas facing forwars or upwards. You cannot rotate the head side to side. I just got in a replacement flash that I have been eyeing for a couple of years now. Meet the Godox V1P The P means this is for Pentax. I was  going to get the V1 Pro version, but the Pentax is the only system not offered for the Pro, which upgraded the cooling characteristics as well as give you a small foreward facing seconday flash.

The package I got came with a packet of extra flash filters. These filters come with 2 arms that allow you to fix them over the flash head.

Included is a single battery, a battery charger with cable and wall socket adaptor, the flash inside the case, Hotshoe foot, and instructions.

The battery is currently charging.

The V1 is a round head flash with a smaller modeling light built in. I have never owned a round flash before. I was curious and can't wait to take a few photos to try it out.

No more fiddling with battery doors that feel like they will break. The battery slides right in.

I will have to read the manual. Looks busy.

Another look at the included bonus filters. I guess you could use an elastic to hold the filters in place. While doing research on the flash, I quickly noticed they sold and accessory kit for this flash.

Godox AK-R1 Pocket Flash Light Accessories Kit comes in a nice case. The included bonus flash filters are a tad long to fit inside the case.

Inside the kit are around 6 filters that fit a filter holder. Everything is held by magnets.

Today saw me out before sunrise for a little trip to Echo Bay and St. Joseph Island.

A small walk along the Lake George Marsh was in order. They re-built this a few years back and it is only half of what it used to be. The older trail took you almost to the lake's edge and was far superior to the newer pathway. The old setup also had a few birding oberservation towers.

When you get to the end of the new walkway, you have to go quite a bit further to where the old walkway took you along a gravel road. This is the view I was wanting to see.

IMGP5865A by Chako, on Flickr

The walkway is just west of the Big Loonie. Because the Canadian dollar coin has a loon on the front, we call them loonies. Guess what we call the Canadian two dollar coin despite the coin featuring a polar bear...yes...a toonie. The reason why there is one in Echo Bay is due to the fact that Robert Carmichael lived a good distance away in Sylvan Vally but Echo Bay decided to put up a monument to him. This was of course before the whole place got by-passed by the Trans Canada Highway that now travels north of Echo Bay, and is in fact closer to the Sylvan Valley for it.

A fun but pointless fact. My High School Principal when I was a student back in the day was Robert's brother Dan Carmichael.

Here is the bridge to St. Joseph Island.

After I visited the small picnic area before going over the bridge, I tool a nice ride around highway 548. At this point, I had placed my camera on the car seat next to me but did not plan on taking anymore photos...that is until I came across some wildlife. Some highway history first.

https://www.thekingshighway.ca/Highway548.htm

The first photo almost did not happen. There was a flock of Turkeys going across the highway. By the time I managed to turn the camera on, most of them made it across the road.

IMGP5889A by Chako, on Flickr

After that, I got smarter and left my camera on standby mode which was good because I was able to spy this guy just off the highway. I had to back up my vehicle a little ways to take the shot right through my glass window. I think it turned out really good.

St. Joseph Island is infamous for having a big population of deer, which means  you have to keep your eyes peeled as you just never know when one will jump out infront of you.

Today I visited the Bushplane Museum in my city. This time I took out the Canon 5D Mark II with a 17-40mm f4 L lens. First time I was able to use the camera with the new battery grip and hand sling. I am very happy with the results.

I was at one of the local pawn shops when I spied a mirror lens. I asked to take a look at it and it appeared to be fairly new with a UV filter on it. When I took of the T mount it proved to be for Canon EOS. It was also half off, so I got it for 30 dollars. Can't go wrong at that price just to play around with. Mirror lenses fold the light via mirrors. These tend to be slow manual everything lenses that have a universal screw mount and you buy the related T mount for your camera system. I have one for my Pentax system, and thought I would add one to the Canon system. The fun things about these lenses are the donut highlights. A lot of folks stay away from them because of this. Me, I think it is a great special effect. I also bought a 72mm lens hood for it, one of those rubber roll up types.

I was doing a bit of cleaning and digging and found my Olympus system bag. I was in highschool taking a grade 10 photography class when I needed to get myself a camera for it. My father took me to a place called Waltz Camera and we bought  an Olympus OM10 because it was the cheapest and they didn't have any Pentax K1000s in stock. We also bought the manual adaptor for it to go fully manual as that was a requirement for using the camera in class. Years ago, I gave my trusty OM10 to a colegue who wanted to get into photography. Instant regret ensued. Years ago, I came across an OM10 at one of the local pawn shops and asked to take a closer look at it. It turned out to be my old camera due to a mark I made under the camera. I bought it on the spot. I did lose all of my lenses that came with it minus the one that was on my camera. Either way, I was overjoyed. Around 2017, I spied an Olympus OM 1n in the same pawn shop. I bought it along with all of its lenses as a kit. I had this all stored away until I decided to find it once again and show you photos of my 25mm film Olympus kit.

I have everything stored in this camera bag.

The OM 10 was a low level camera designed for starter photographers. As such, you had to buy a clip on manual adaptor as an option if you wanted to venture into manual settings. It allowed you to select the shutter speed. Why they didn't add this to the camera, I will never know. I guess to reap sales of the manual adaptor. There was a setting to set the camera to read the adaptor shown here,

Standard Zuiko f1.8 50mm lens. I just noticed that the lens is sporting a special effect filter to give star patterns to light sources.

If the OM 10 was for beginners, the OM 1/2/3/4 series was aimed at advanced amateurs and professionals. I was lucky to have found this camera with included flash adaptor. This camera came out around 1972.

The OM 10 did not last me long as I found some limitations with the camera during my school course. I spied someone in the class using a Minolta Maxime 7000 and got a Pentax SF10 to replace the Olympus.

What fantastic luck, finding your old camera! :2tu: It gives me hope that the black Tinker I bought in about 1991 (and is awlso easily identifiable) will turn up someday.
