...
(Ironically, last time in Germany I ended up in a discussion with a German hobby brewer who felt the beer in Belgium is superior to the German products ...

You see, the Germans even know it themselves  :pok:.

 ;)

Bah! :D

Micro-brewers always love Belgian beers, especially the dark and spicy ones, because they taste a lot, gives a lot of artistic freedom and are relatively easy to get pretty drinkable on cause of the extreme tastes. My personal Belgian favorite at the moment though is Tilquin's gueze or Cantillon's ecological one. Oh, or Cantillon Iris, that half-breed is really tasty, I think! I prefer lambic in Belgium, not such a big fan of your triples, saisons, etc. There are obviously some lovely beer jewels there, but not my personal favorites.

To be completely honest with you, I don't even drink alcohol.  Haven't had a beer since I was 17 years old when I had a couple too many during a party on Christmas Eve and payed a price for it the next day during family diner on Christmas Day ...  ::)

So, no more beer since december '94  ;).

P.S. I hate to tell you, but you're wrong about the pudding vs mousse thing also  >:D.

Quite frankly, good for you!  :tu: (The "cheers" smiley felt wrong... ;) ) (And I'm talking about not drinking alcohol, not what happened Christmas dinner '94.)

No, white "chocolate" has no cacao, hence it's not really chocolate :D

It's the cocoa fat which makes chocolate yummy. Everybody knows the good stuff is in the fat, whether it's chocolate or meat. :)

Mousse IS better! I hate pudding :-/

Heretic!  :viking:

Pudding should be almost as solid as a soft cheese, not that halfway runny stuff. And mousse is just some brown foam, who could prefer that over lovely chocolate hand to hand weaponry?

I must admit, when my wife makes chocolate mousse, it's quite heavy stuff, the kind where you can place your spoon in without it touching the sides of the cup, not that brown foam you get sometimes (I don't like that foam mousse either).  The one my wife makes is the kind that makes you sit back in the chair and open the top button of your pants, because something's gotta give  ;).

P.S. About the beer drinking, it's not like I had an alcohol problem or so, just young and stupid. I won a free crate of Kriek Lambic,  and since we couldn't take the crate with us when we entered the party, we had to leave it in the trunk of the car and go outside from time to time.  But since it was end december and freezing cold, I tried to be more efficient by drinking 2 or 3 during each trip to the car, which turned out to be a pretty bad idea ...  ::)

I assumed it was something like that, since you were 17... Oh my... drinking yourself utterly, as we say in Norwegian, snowblind on kriek... I have really no problem seeing how your hangover was. I don't know whether to laugh or pity you. I think I'll go for both. I think I would have stopped drinking too if I did that.

One of the age old conflicts between my wife and myself: Which is superior, chocolate pudding or chocolate mousse? I prefer pudding (preferably bullet proof), while that insane woman has ideas mousse is better.

Oooohhh.... tough call there. Don't hate me, but.... mousse, but only if I don't have to be the one making it. Otherwise, pudding with whipped cream on top.:D

The best chocolate... whatever chocolate I have in hand.

Which right now, is Reeses cups, Toblerone (origional, dark and snowcap) and M&Ms in my trailmix.

I hate dilemmas but I'm game.

I prefer dark chocolate. Less sweet, less sensitive, more aromatic than milk chocolate where milk changes everything. That white thing is no chocolate  by the way.

I prefer pudding. I find the souffles or whatever is baked in small individual containers annoying to get out of said containers and mushy, floury and usually overwhelmingly sweet to the point of having no particular flavour I can detect. Even worse if they go dry. That said, brownies are awesome.

I love me a raisin and nuts milk chocolate. Nougat is great too. Mocha also works. Cherry liquer chocolate  I'm pretty boring with chocolate. Cocoa is another story.

From local stuff, leaving other treats behind, I like ION for milk and Pavlides for dark chocolate.

Lindtt is very nice, as is solid Ovomaltine. Funny how I don't like its powder form and prefer the local version called HEMO.

Oh, there's a Belgian beer I really like, it's called Lucifer :tu:

One of the worst days ever was when I found out the Spanish importer had taken Cote d'Or Truffle Noir out of their offering. I went cold turkey when that happened. I actually called them to make a complaint.
