Awesome.  :tu:

Is it as simple as it looks? I have a Sidekick that just sits around. I am thinking of doing this mod.

Kampfer, is the saw for sale? I want to make my Wingman bladeless and would like a SK saw to help facilitate that.

It would be kind of funny if Leatherman sees this and decides to make a production run.

If they did that they should do the Wave or Charge version of this though.

Sometimes less is more! I think it would be a good utility knife for me to leave on the workbench for random tasks.  Im also trying to invent a reason to buy one... :D  I remember buying a wingman the day they came out here, and sold it the next day.  If I''d seen this mod I would have kept it.

I hear you, well and clear. I can't say I was a big fan of a Wingman, either. Not after you get spoiled with Wave, Charge, Surge and the likes of those top-grade LM MTs.

For me Wingman/Sidekick was always like a poor cousin to petty much any other full size tool LM makes. It's cheap and nasty, but that sometimes comes as an advantage - I've been using it and trashing it to the max without much care, although you can't really say that by looking at pics. It's been 3 weeks now of every day carry at home. That pocket clip is a Godsend too, the handle comfortably slips in and out of the pocket, just like a mini-folder knife.

Ok, Version 2 of "         ": <-Insert cool name here.
I moved the drivers to other end of handle because I want them to click in place like they suppose to.
Moved the other three implements to the opposite end then discovered that the SE blade became a real hazard as its tip stick out from the opening of handle. So SE blade is not more. The remaining implements ruler/small flat head and can opener don't click in place, but not big deal, they will still work just fine.
Also now all four implements inside the handle do not interfere each other anymore.

That covers the basic, when I found a wave scissors, I will add that in. Or maybe not, I always have a Micra with me anyway.

... then discovered that the SE blade became a real hazard as its tip stick out from the opening of handle. So SE blade is not more.

You can add the box cutter from your spare Wingman (unless you got rid of it) instead of that small SE blade you removed.

The non-interference between the tools is unfortunately only possible with 4 tools or less. Add the 5th (like Wave scissors or Rebar awl or similar) and it will have to cover at least one if not two tools on the opposite side when closing. I wouldn't worry about that. The emphasis should be on a tool load you can comfortably install inside the handle's cavity not so much the tools covering each other, in this case. Well at least to me  ;)

I was pretty sure this had been done before by some of the modders here, as it's such a logical and straightforward way to finish up with by following the Mini-Surge mod. I am currently collecting bits for my own Mini-Surge mod, Wingman scissors being one of them.

This left me with a scissor-less Wingman, and since I am OCD and cannot stand Wingman pliers I decided to create a 'mini-tool folder' in a single Wingman handle.

What made this mod easier was the fact the top (pliers-end) and bottom (tools-end) pivot sizes on Wingman are the same size, allowing me to install the tools from a bottom of one handle into the top of the other, basically combining the Wingman's tool load into a single handle. To top it all off, I also added scissors from the Wave.

The result was quite surprising to me as it required very little modding while creating almost a perfect small 'MT-folder' as an end result.

The top tools fit snugly into the handle and the Wave scissors fold in perfectly. The only rule of thumb is to fold the bottom tools into the handle first, and top tools second, on top of the bottom tools. This is required as there's simply not enough space for the tools to fold independently inside the main handle cavity due to their length.

Few details:
- I used a Wingman handle housing a 420HC combo blade
- Bottom tools in that handle were left untouched
- Internal pliers stop strip had to be removed by breaking a rivet, to allow the installation of the tools at the top of the handle. This is a must.
- Phillips and flat head screwdrivers from the second handle were installed at the top of this handle
- Wave scissors added and installed in a particular position (see photos below) over the bottle/can opener for correct fit
- After extensive play with different sized washers and spacers (all sourced from Wingman's second handle) I ended up with this combo.
- All button screw heads flattened. As much as I like button heads their prominent bulge was a little out of place for me personally on this tool, they are much bigger than the ones on Wave/Charge/Surge.

So I started on this mod, but I had to take a work call.  So I have a pile of drivers, washers, and handles on my desk.  I'll have to finish in the morning.
