WOW,  this almost convinces me that a wingman/sidekick is a tool worth having if only as a donor for this mod.

THIS is a LM folder done right.

and I'm sure a little bit of effort could shoehorn a pair of Vic scissors in there somewhere. maybe the size from a 74mm like an Executive

That's incredible. I kinda sorta hope A Leatherman Tool Rep is looking at this post. Maybe they could do some damage to **cough**cough*** saks....

I for one have never owned a real SAK....but making one out of a Leatherman is now on my todo list.

That is one sexy mod!

How is the ergonomics? Could it benefit from some thin scales?
That would be perfect for the MTO 3d printing project. MTO Swingman scales.

Wow.

Both the Wingman and Sidekick versions are cool.

Could I ask for a weight on these?

I'm also wondering if the old PST II / Original Wave scissors would slot in the way the current Wave scissors have.

I think we might see a new area for tinkering here.

Great work, guys.

So I'm gonna throw my hat in the ring, with babola n Kampfer,.
Nowhere near as sexy looking as the chrome on the wingman, but babola opened my eyes to doing something with the gutted out blast that had broken pliers. I had been stripping parts off it for a while, its nice to resurrect it from the bottom of the drawer.
Clip is just off a junk pocket knife with the hole drilled out bigger.

Sadly I didn't get to play with the parts today.
Hopefully tomorrow I can.
I know my OCD is going to go off the scale with this thing, arghh.
How mission impossible would it be getting the tools clicking in at both ends?
Kampfer, what lanyard ring is that?

Nice one jaffer man.  :tu:

I like SAK, but never love them because them generally lack of OHO, locking blade & pocket clip. (When they do, they became huge, too big for what they are IMO)
This Mod is a SAK made of leatherman parts with the features I really want, I love it! Thanks brother. :tu:

I compared it with alox farmer, they are very similar size and weight. I will post some photos later.

Lanyard ring is stock from sidekick (wingman lacks it), I ended up replacing it with a washer.
In my current configuration, three out of four tools clicks, except the can opener.

Kampfer, is the saw for sale? I want to make my Wingman bladeless and would like a SK saw to help facilitate that.
No it is not for sale! PM me your address I will send it to you.

Why does the file click but not the opener?

Good question, maybe because the file is placed directly next to the handle wall?
It clicks but not a strong click like the other drivers. Good enough for me using it as fine flat driver. Can opener doesn't click but works fine, tried it, passed.

Well I was stuck on that work call for hours, so in the moments of waiting/downtime, I fiddled with this.

So mine ended up essentially like Kampfer's (except with a combo blade), because those are the only parts I still had.  Didn't really set out that way.

I found the same that the file does seem to click in better than the can opener, but not as good as the drivers.  Although, my file rubs on the phillips driver a bit, so I may play with washers some more.

Thanks babola!

I moved the drivers to other end of handle because I want them to click in place like they suppose to.
Moved the other three implements to the opposite end then discovered that the SE blade became a real hazard as its tip stick out from the opening of handle. So SE blade is not more.

From the photograph of Version 1 the SE blade is safely tucked under the driver.  That right?  In Version 1 did the SE blade click in place?  Think that is what I want with the saw instead of the PE blade.  UK legal carry.

Great work everybody except I feel sick having discarded my Wingman body parts.

Brilliant mod. :tu:  I'm going to have to go and see what I've got left in the shed.  Handles, blade, phillips, file and can opener, I think.  I've used everything else.

Silly wingmen and sidekicks. How about a surge???

I'll drill out the pivot holes on the Phillips and small flathead after I get some sleep.  >:D

That's a really cool mod. I wonder if you could do the same kind of thing with a wave or surge?
I would not waste a perfectly good Wave or Surge for this.

There is that, but there's also the problem that the plier pivots are larger on the Wave/Surge so it wouldn't be so easy.

Great work guys! :D  I own one of the leatherman folders with the philips/flathead on there and its handy, but for some reason this half a multitool seems way more practical to me.
PM me or email sakmodder [at] gmail . com if you are looking for custom SAK work.

That really is a practical size tool.
LM should make them and sell it for half the price of a sidekick.
