I HATE serrations!
There are times when it's useful, like on a woody plant fine edge tend to slide off whereas serrated edge would bite right in.
Exactly!
Cutting flexible, tough, woody vines in my backyard proved this to my satisfaction.
My sharpest plain edge knives will skate over the surface of the vines before they'll bite. Even a brand new blade in my razor blade utility knife will skate.
But serrated edges bite easily wherever they strike the vine and at whatever angle they hit.
The half-serrated blade of my Buck X-Tract works better for lopping off woody vines than a plain edge, hawksbill, pruning knife, which came as a big suprise to me.
