TRITIUM In a MT/SAk

I have a recent addiction to tritium.

Has anyone put a vial IN a SAK scale? Or on the handle of a MT?

Some of you know I'm getting a ZT 0566BW for Xmas. I wonder if I could have someone fab me a new scale that would except a vial. (I want to avoid lanyard)

Also. For those of you who don't know, Tritium is a radioactive for of Hydrogen. And it does naturally glow for around 12 years. Which is its half life. The human skin is strong enough to bounce the radiation away. So tritium is already used in lanterns for key chains, and watch arms.

Tritium is a beta emitter and beta radiation is stopped by the glass vial in which it is contained. Tritium is a gas so it has to be in a sealed vial. The light produced, without getting into details, is not radioactive.

With the exception of certain applications/very small quantities it will be illegal to process without a license in most European countries. See the Euratom treaty web site and your legislation before ordering any online

I guess you could put a tritium vial in a scale if you can cast clear plastic on top of it.

On Cellidor/Wood it would probably look like poopie...

I bought some tiny ones for 58mm Ti inserts but havent gotten around to trying it yet.

You'd have to break open the vials and eat them for it to harm you, so the realistic danger factor is pretty low.

That's perfect. I wonder if I could incorporate them into a skeletool. There is so many holes and fillings I wish someone made a glass disk vial.

Then later you could smurf with the lights off and still know when you are done wiping.

It's a gas. If you open the vial it just mixes with the air, the same way Hydrogen would do..

Provided you do not inhale it right as it comes out of the vial it will just mix with the air and become diluted, posing no serious risk. In general, if you are working with tritium you should do it in a well ventilated room, under an extractor fan etc.

Also, after 12 years it will not go dark; it will just be half as bright as it was originally, so it may still be useful.

Glass disk you say?? Check over at CPF aka candlepower forums. I have seen disk, spheres etc.

Well a disk would be perfect.  From the inside mill a circle, and have the + on the outside, so then you see a nice glowy + on the front.

Well a disk would be perfect.  From the inside mill a circle, and have the + on the outside, so then you see a nice glowy + on the front.

That'd be nice, and hopefully it's feasible without breaking the bank.
